I just use Google maps these days. They seem to have the latest on construction. And it doesn’t ignore Macomb County like WWJ does. WWJ seems to spend most of its time on Detroit proper and the western suburbs(Novi, Livonia, etc).
They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.

I don't know when you're listening, but I hear Macomb and even St. Clair county construction info on WWJ all of the time. Sometimes ad nauseam.

They've mentioned the 23 Mile ramps off I-94 are closed multiple times. KT mentioned the multiple crashes on the Reuther this morning, not just the closure at Mound.

I noticed it was more pronounced in the afternoon when I was out and about. They've been working on Metro Parkway for about 5 weeks between Ryan and Mound westbound. Still haven't heard any updates. Mound Rd itself, nothing.... Maybe the morning drive is different.

It's been said before, but Jim Hughes is absolutely horrible. You can't understand half of what he says.

Where exactly is "Ann-Apolis Road"? Not once, but three times.

Our buddy Jim Hughes also said there was an accident at 94 and Michigan Ave. He didn't specify whether it was Dearborn/Detroit or Ypsilanti (or further west in Jackson County).

I get KT needs a day off here and there, but can't they find anyone better than Hughes for the most important traffic day part?

It's in Dearborn Heights and surrounding cities. I have a friend who lives on Annapolis St for 20-some years, and another friend who lived near it growing up. They both pronounce it "Ann-Apolis", and not as "un-NAP-olis". Seems to be a unique local pronunciation.

Annapolis is half a mile north of Van Born. I've always produced it like the city in Maryland, a-NAP-a-lis. I've heard that other pronunciation and it always sounded odd.

Yea, I agree it does sound odd. But so does Char-LOTTE in Michigan, as opposed to CHAR-lit in North Carolina. Or MYE-lin (Milan) as opposed to Mih-LON. Or TRA-verse City as opposed to Tra-VERSE City. I just go by how the locals say it.

I think your pronunciation is how I've heard it most often.

I think in all 3 of your examples, the first is the only way I've heard it said.

I suspect because you're local to Michigan to be familiar with those 3 examples. I work with people all over the country who are not familiar with Michigan and those pronunciations, and I have heard the wrong pronunciations for all 3 of those examples when referring to the Michigan version. My point is that the same is possibly true for Annapolis, and I suspect many people throughout Metro Detroit may not be familiar with ANN-AP-olis, not because the personality on the radio necessarily pronounced it wrong.

Slightly off topic, but I noticed on LinkedIn that Brooke Allen is no longer a WWJ news anchor. Anyone know what happened?

She posted on Facebook that Aug. 31st was to be her last day on air with no mention of why or what is next.

O'Neil Stevens is reporting SB 75 is closed between The Reuther and 8 Mile. His suggested detour? Square Lake to Woodward to 8 Mile. It didn't occur to a traffic reporter to exit at 11, 12, or even 14 Mile and take a parallel N-S road to 8 Mile? Pathetic.
