105.5 WQQO Toledo
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
104.7 was better in the mid to late 90s then today. In the early 2000s they were wretched, at least during the day as I've discussed a few times.
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
I'm trying to remember who was on IOT middays in the late 90s. I know Micki Morgret took over that 10-3 slot around 1999 or so, but I can't remember who preceded her. Don Davis was in afternoons the entire time I lived up there.

Micki was still around on IOT in the late 2000s, I won Mud Hens tickets from her once. Then they went with national voicetracking in middays for a few years, and honestly the music was better and newer then, but that pissed off everyone around here who wanted to hear 30 Days In The Hole and Fred Bear every hour so they went back local with Aimee in middays until the endless budget cuts took care of her a couple of years ago. Doubt they'll ever be local in middays again.

I think there was a Susan Graves in that time period back then. Micki was on WIOT in the late 90's until about 2001, then she moved to WXKR in 2002, originally in mornings until moving to middays in 2004. She was off Toledo airwaves for a few years until circa 2009, when she returned to WIOT until the 2011 budget cuts.

Damn, I totally forgot about Micki Morgret. I think she originally worked the "Jacor" stations as the ClearChannel bulldozers moved into T-Town. Didn't Micki try to get a program just like Delilah going here on 101.5 in the day before working upstairs on Summit Street?
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
I believe that's correct WOHO. I remember her as a producer for Scott Sloan, possibly among others, before and maybe even while she worked the midday slot on IOT. I would occasionally see some of those folks out and about around town, including at UT football games. The WSPD/Jacor/CC folks were always great to those of us who worked campus radio.
As for the Delilah thing, no idea. 101.5 was a very rare listen for me. Bob Simen was the only host I knew from the River, and that was mostly because he called UT women's basketball games on 1230 at the same time.

If Lew Dickey, Sr were still around, he would clean house immediately. Consultant, PD and most of the air staff GONE! There would be few survivors.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:06 am Q105's ratings are back to sub-2 share range.
Their little ratings boost from summer sure didn't last long!
That's way too good of a signal to be earning such crummy numbers.
Am I right, WOHO?

This to me is the new Tower 98, the thing that won't die.

I think they should either go 90's and 2000's hits or AC of some kind, maybe bring back the Star 105 brand.
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
Does it make sense? Not really, wouldn't that damage the overall ratings of both stations? I'm sure cumulus wants to maximize the total number of listeners.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 3:47 pm Cumulus wants button pushers leaving XKR to go to RQN and vice versa. To that end, some reasonable artist overlap makes sense.
As far as 105.5 Listening to a bucket of cottage cheese is more entertaining.
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
Colonel Flagg, you are correct Sir. Dickey Sr. would use the scortched Earth method, cause money talks, and 1055 best be in the upper half of the pack, at least in sales.
