Old WJR Radio Guide
Old WJR Radio Guide
Found this gem while cleaning my barn/garage.
For the ‘87 Tigers season.
I miss getting these at Big Boy.

I miss getting these at Big Boy and I miss the varieties of programming from this era.

I remember getting these. What a piece of advertisement garbage, by the time they came out they were outdated. Stations flipped formats and call letters. The only thing they were good for was the baseball and football game schedule. I used mine to line the bird cage but that was until the cat had dinner, hope it tasted like chicken for FluffyCat.

Yeah, I remember these. Nice!
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Along the same token, I also remember around the late-1980s or early-1990s a radio atlas of Michigan, which featured radio stations by format and their range of coverage. Stores such as the defunct Action Auto had them for free. The big flaw was that it not only neglected most of the UP, but it did not include any out-of-state stations, which left places such as Berrien County "underserved".

There was a good website that was like radio listening guide or something. And no, it wasn't Michiguide.

Below for nostalgia is a link to a short video about WJR in their earlier days:GREATLAKESVET wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 1:47 pm... I miss the varieties of programming from this era.

I loved these things pre-internet. I would grab a new one whenever I went to Big Boy, stick it in my glove box, and would take it with me when the family would travel. I still have one.

I remember that too! I think it came out around 1988 or so. I was a kid and eagerly devouring anything radio-related, and was also quite disappointed that (assuming I'm thinking of the same thing you are) it didn't list stations' call letters.rugratsonline wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 7:32 pmAlong the same token, I also remember around the late-1980s or early-1990s a radio atlas of Michigan, which featured radio stations by format and their range of coverage. Vuolo's Radio Guides had their fair share of errors, like listing 99.9 CFGX in Sarnia/Port Huron as a "classic rock" station (it never was) and listing stations that never even made it on the air (like WKWM's 98.9 FM in Grand Rapids). Still, they're good for the nostalgia value.

Also good for starting the grill and lining the bird cage. But seriously there was a lot of outdated and misinformation on those guides. Again they were useless.ChrisWL1980 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 3:25 amI remember that too! I think it came out around 1988 or so. I've seen some on eBay for as much as $10.00.
Come on, they are/were a lot better than nothing, even with mistakes and omissions. You guys are addicted to the internet lists and websites. They didn't have those then. Still great if the phone or notebook won't work.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

I can put $10. to better use than a incorrect piece of paper. Whoever spends $10. on a radioguide is foolish. $10. can feed my wife and myself at Micky D’s. It can get ice cream for my grandchildren.CK-722 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:52 pmI've seen some on eBay for as much as $10.00.

Re: Old WJR Radio Guide
What's not to like about that Radio Guide? Ernie and Paul on it and it lists all the Stereo AM stations as well (about a dozen, including the Tiger games on WJR)
