Chris Renwick has been a breath of fresh air on WJR, compared to the foul wind of Frank Beckmann, who's currently on vacation. There's actually intelligent discussion, knowledge of the subject at hand, and younger callers to the show. With Frank, callers are people over 75, or "Mr. Positive" from Shelby Township.
Frank should be worried, but with his massive ego, there's no chance of that.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 12 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

"Don't you knock when you enter a room?"
Re: Chris Renwick on WJR
I wonder if he is related to Varn Renwick, who was in radio, and Bob Renwick, who had a house on Crystal Lake and a cottage he rented called "THISLDU". Both have passed away. When I was a kid, Bob told me the history of Crystal Lake (it used to be much larger) and his cottage.

Call and ask him. I'm pretty sure you're under 75.

Couldn't find Varn's Obit, which was once online. Probably behind a paywall now. Seems like he died in Petoskey. Varn was his nickname, and I can't remember his actual first name.
Varn worked in the late 1970s and early 1980s at WTRX, and did weekends. He isn't on this piece of history from 1976. Can't remember if he ever worked at WJR.

Re: Chris Renwick on WJR
what was the format at WTRX 1330 back in 1976 (when NightFlight 76 was airing on WJR)?
Re: Chris Renwick on WJR
WTRX was pretty much an A/C Top 40 combo, without the hard rock. They were competing with WFDF.

Woah, I didn't even know he worked in radio, lmao.
I'm friends with his sister.

Mid to late 1970s and early 1980s overnight on WTRX, after Wally Kennedy (Rich Fisher also sometimes filled in) and Dave Barber signed off their talk shows. There are so many AC Top 40 Crossovers that they played on WTRX that weren't H*** hits that I associate with those overnights, e.g. "Hold On" by Ian Gomm. Seems like Varn Renwick did News in that era.
As usual, obits connect many dots, but not to Bob or Chris Renwick.
