80s, 90s, and now?

Unread post by bmw »

There are still radio stations which use this moniker. I was driving in Saginaw yesterday and I heard it on 92.5 The Castle. A quick Google search shows that quite a few stations still use it (or some variation, like 80s, 90s, and today).

We're nearing the end of the 2nd decade of the 2000s. Shouldn't this slogan have been retired or changed like 10 years ago? "Now" apparently spans an entire 20 years.

I hope you aren't losing sleep over this.
I see the point but the moniker is sort of catchy like 90s, double zeros and today isn't.
I no longer directly engage Rate This :lol

80's are really all that matters to me with a little 90's. Could care less about newer music.

Not just 00's, but starting next month, there will be 2 full decades in-between as it will be the 20s. So you'd have 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and now. Just sayin'. Two lost decades (and for the record, no lost sleep).

"double zeros" lol...

I'd say 90s, 2000s, and today. Although I do agree, doesn't sounds as good as "80s, 90s, and now/today"

Doesn't WFMK brand as "'80s to Now"? Last I checked, many of the iHeart AC stations were branding that way as well.

101.5 the River in Toledo uses this slogan, and I believe WNIC uses it as well.

WCBY 1240 AM had the "Music of Your Life" format in the 90s with the slogan "Playing the music you remember" kind of fitting for music of the last 30 years I'd say LOL

As I recall, that slogan was only used at the hour ID. "Playing the music you remember. 1240, WCBY Cheboygan." And then ABC News Brief would air.

The problem with this is that 80s music has absolutely no resemblance to the music of "today," and I find it hard to believe that the same audience would tune in for both of these styles. Also, still stunned that Saginaw/Bay City doesn't have a true "Classic Hits" station. Since WHNN fucked itself in the ass a couple of years back, there's been a H*** void (pun not intended).

97.7 WMPX flipped to classic hits over a year ago but their signal doesn’t cover all of Saginaw County. Thinking 97.3 Joe FM has skewed more classic hits now versus variety hits

Heh... when Joe FM's playlist literally went from Green Day, Quiet Riot, and then Bee Gees with the voiceover "Only Joe FM could bring you from Quiet Riot to Bee Gees and keep your foot tapping." Wow...
