Ignorant UAW story
Oh boy, you know they’ve run out of ideas here.
https://www.wxyz.com/news/can-you-live- ... gotiations
What happened with this story? Was it rushed? Major mistakes happened.
The title says UAW workers push for higher strike pay, but even in the story, it’s not UAW workers pushing for higher strike pay, it’s a labor and civil rights attorney pushing for it, NOT THE UAW MEMBERS!
The title and the story don’t match, in fact, the headline is 100% false.
Then, a worker is quoted saying a mortgage can’t be paid on $250 a week. WHO PAYS THEIR MORTGAGE WEEKLY? Many mortgages can be paid with $1,000 a month, but this ignorant worker makes it sound like only $250 is available to pay a monthly bill, which is 100% false and quoted in the story without any perspective, context, or fact-checking.
Why even post this “story”?
Embarrassing.

“Can you live on $250 a week? Can you,” asked Walter Dietz, a striking GM worker. “That is not even a mortgage payment.”JackAttack FM wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 9:50 amNobody out of High School can live on $250 a week.
Everybody that says what they make says it by the week or annually.
Everybody pays their mortgage payment montly.
Its easy math.
The UAW member is probably comparing his on the job weekly wage versus his on strike wage.
An average mortgage payment is $1,000. A low payment is $700 or $800.
Its not a great story but, it gets the point out.
Besides missing a question mark, the quote doesn’t reflect reality. In the video story, there’s a quote from someone else in between.
A lot of people pay more than $250 per month for utilities, food, gas, and entertainment. So to quote someone as saying $250 is not a mortgage paying brings no value to the story.
Plus, the title of the story is a literal lie.

That’s a question? Yikes! You must have taken the union English course.
Read. You’ll find the answers you’re looking for.
To repeat. The “story” is a lie. The title says union members are pushing for higher strike pay. But are they? NOPE! Who’s quoted as pushing for higher strike pay? A LAWYER!!! NOT A UAW MEMBER!!!
Second, quoting someone who says $250 can’t pay a mortgage is asinine. You pointed that out too in your post that strike pay is not intended to replace a full salary. So someone complaining that strike pay isn’t enough to pay their bills is ignorant. YOU pointed that out, yet you still say you don’t know what I was objecting to!
IGNORANT!

Unions are everything they say they fight against.
Greedy, lazy, incompetent, corrupt people at the top who make most of the money.
But you can’t blame just those on top, the lemmings share blame too. Anyone who pays someone else thinking they have their best interest is only fooling themselves. This includes people who have agents.

Rather be in the UAW making $25 hour with benefits then being on my own and working in some small factory on Groesbeck making $14 hr with no benefits while the owner has a custom built 800k in Washington Twp that he paid in cash.
[/quote]
And guess how much non-union auto workers at Honda and Toyota make? THE SAME! You’re wasting your money on corrupt union bosses.

Not only that, the poster is jealous of other people. I expect that from children. “Teacher, he got a bigger piece of cake! No fair!”Daypart wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:11 pmRun-on sentence.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 10:53 amRather be in the UAW making $25 hour with benefits then being on my own and working in some small factory on Groesbeck making $14 hr with no benefits while the owner has a custom built 800k in Washington Twp that he paid in cash.lovinlife101 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 10:02 am

Don’t worry, non-union Honda and Toyota do. Along with countless other non-union companies. Those who don’t get it may leave and go somewhere that does.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:17 pmYou can always care about your workers and give them health insurance. Just sayin'...
Keep thinking that leaving the union would force everyone to accept $2 an hour. Your union bosses want you to believe that and keep them “necessary” and “relevant.”

The lemmings are at the mercy of union bosses who tell them to strike or not.

Good for you.Turkeytop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 8:20 pmI've been in my Union for 45 years and it's no joke. Both my wife and I grew up in desperate poverty. Indeed, the first few years of our life together, we lived in poverty.
I got my first big break when I got a job in a Union shop with decent wages, benefits and something called a Pension Plan.
In Ontario, back in the 1960s there wasn't much opportunity for someone from a poor, working class family to get any education beyond high school. My Union got me my education and it didn't cost me a nickel.
Today, we're retired. We aren't wealthy, but we live in modest comfort. No working person should have to settle for anything less.
You chose to pay a union. The vast majority of people don’t and end up the same or better off financially than you.

There’s a saying in the Bible about those who don’t work shouldn’t eat. Guess that doesn’t apply to the UAW.Matt wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 6:05 pmI have a suggestion for the lowlife non-worker's next meal...Vic Doucette wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 7:10 pmI went to the plant at 9 Mile and Mound today and bought lunch for a couple of strikers.
