Re: Regional Emmys
If you really deserve an Emmy, you're not working in a non destination market. Emmys don't increase the paycheck.
Re: Regional Emmys
I agree. And I don't think it should be used to brag in advertising for any station's newscasts or personnel. Otherwise, if it makes them happy, let 'em have their fun.lovinlife101 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 4:16 pmIt’s just a racket, a scheme by the Emmy organization to make some quick cash and for low-paid (notice I didn’t say “underpaid”) people to feel better about themselves.whitebalance wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:03 pmIf you really deserve an Emmy, you're not working in a non destination market. HL101: For someone who bashes the Emmy Awards, I find it interesting that you're the one to start a thread to once again bash your former employers. Maybe there's some jealousy that your work isn't recognized with the Emmy... instead it lines most cat litter boxes these days.
As for the Emmy Awards, congrats to those who won or were nominated. I agree that they're not worth promoting since most viewers don't make their decisions of who to watch based off awards. But if industry professionals want to recognize great work, I say good for them.

Groan. This forum SUCKS.
Re: Regional Emmys
I believe there are 63 Emmy categories in Michigan, and we'll say 5 entries in each category at $150 an entry. That's over $45,000. What do 63 trophies with engraving cost? $6300?
Re: Regional Emmys
HL101: as someone who professes that he's not in the broadcasting (past, current or future -- which is a lie), why do you care how much the Emmy board charges for entries for Emmy consideration? No one is forcing anyone to submit their work for judging, so I'm not sure why you seem obsessed over this topic. And I say obsessed because you can go back and check out MULTIPLE years where you've trolled employees at your former employers, WNEM and WEYI
Re: Regional Emmys
I'll start with naming one former coworker: me. Because you don't know my identity doesn't mean I don't know yours. The halls of the Rusty Nickel are more spacious since your oversized ego left the building.
Re: Regional Emmys
Yes, I am still employed by TV5, and management has made it very clear that they'd prefer us not to engage in these online forums. So, yes, I am choosing to remain anonymous (which is my right).
Not that that matters or has anything to do with you once again taking us away from the topic at hand: WJRT winning 2 Emmys, WEYI winning 1 award
