So many 50 kW AM signals
Re: So many 50 kW AM signals
I remember when WYSI 1480 and WYNZ 1520 first went on the air. I had to borrow my father's car and drive out to the sites

For a while, WOWO had an application to increase Night power to 15 kw Night. It would have favored Michigan. The WCHB/WMUZ 1200 50/15 DA-2 and the WLXX 1200 in Chicago complicated it.
Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

The upgrade occurred well before they joined Air America.rugratsonline wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 11:50 pmBack in the days of the Air America fiasco, WLIB only got as powerful after its owners bought and downgraded Fort Wayne's WOWO.
WLIB did the upgrade, but still couldn't compete with its new rivals on FM.
They briefly did black variety, including oldies on weekends playing R&B selections that they played in their early days as WLIB (50s). They left the Urban format and served the Afro-Caribbean audience for awhile before Air America took over the channel.

1520 is dark in S.E MI now.
1480 is till there but a more directional antenna , more power and spanish programming.

When I was about 12, I got a crystal radio kit for Christmas. WOWO was the first station I ever got with it.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
