And WLLZ 98.7 Also played The Payolas “Eyes Of A Stranger” in 1982.
The Payolas never had a hit here though.

Todays 420 Deep Cut....Aerosmith "Walkin the Dog"..........."The Lightning Strikes" would have been more appropriate.
Ratt does a more kickass version off their debut album.....

Both WLLZ and WRIF played "Go For Soda" when it was released, summer '85.
I figured it got play here, but I was also a teeny tiny baby in the summer of '85. I was excited to hear it nonetheless.

They're very similar to 107.5 WABX in Evansville. They tend to play a few deep cuts on "Two For Tuesday". One day they played "Can't You See" by Boston and even threw in some Honeymoon Suite once.

Stream WIDL from Cass City via android or use rod.to/widl on apple or pc between 6A and midnight M-F. Small station. Very wide variety. Some of you may enjoy it.

"Run to the Hills" Iron Maiden
Followed by Audience request "Bohemian Rhapsody", people actually called in because they hadn't heard it in a few hours.
Which really isn't that much of a deep cut, does research not consider Iron Maiden safe corporate playlist classic rock?

Honeymoon Suite only Top 40 song "Feel It Again" went to # 34 in June of 1986 (from "The Big Prize").

What would happen to a station's ratings if they actually threw in album/deep cuts on a once an hour basis? What would actually happen to the ratings if a station played cuts like Dolly Dagger by Hendrix, Albatross by Fleetwood Mac, Little Girl Blue by Janis, Century City by Tom Petty, One World by Dire Straits, etc. Would the ratings tank because someone didn't get to hear Wheel in the Sky by Journey, Wanted by Bon Jovi or Round and Round by Ratt for the 100,000th time in a month?

If it was successful it would mean they would have to rethink the safe corporate playlist, and that would lead to chaos.

You got me interested in what they are playing for their 4:20 deep cut. Right now I am always leaving work just after 4 and in the car so I have been making sure to tune to WLLZ to see what they play. Yesterday was Children Of The Sun, which really is a very deep cut. If they actually did more of this type of promotion, deep cut, featured tracks from a year at certain times of the day. Maybe an artist of the day where they play at least one song an hour, but get into some of the songs that aren't part of the normal safe playlist. If they did things like that I would be more inclined to leave the station on while driving, or even listen at my desk.
