Verlander Trade Rumors
Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
Revocable trade waivers. If another team claims him, the Tigers can pull him back, let him go, or work out a trade with the claiming team(s).
Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
I think he'll be an Astro in the near future. They're one of the few teams that could handle his salary without paying the salary tax.

Rebuild.

Upton just traded to Angels. He was gonna get the he'll outta here after this season anyway. Might as well move him and get something back, which is what Al Avila did.

The local people haven't mentioned this yet that I can see.TheForce wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2017 4:38 pmTigers Place Justin Verlander on Revocable Waivers

And the last sentence in the link says Verlander is 6–7 with a 4.29 ERA in 22 starts this season for the Tigers."
That ain't even close. he is 10-8 with a 3.82 ERA.

Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
Tigers get 3 prospects back, P Franklin Perez, OF Daz Cameron, son of former MLB player, Mike Cameron, and C Jake Rogers. Tigers also included $10 million.
Tigers thought they had a deal earlier, but Verlander vetoed the trade at that time, hoping his first choice of teams, the Cubs, would make an offer. But then, he changed his mind and agreed to go to Houston.

Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
Morosi reported yesterday afternoon that Verlander, Wilson and Greene were all on the block, and that the Astros desperately were trying to get a deal done for JV.
Not surprised at all this happened.
Unfortunately, we're still stuck with Cabrera and Victor Martinez.
This is a good deal for the Tigers. We received three decent prospects in return and got Houston to eat most of the Verlander contract.

Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
BTW, Chris McCosky's reporting on the trade was a disaster. He erroneously reported after 11p last night that Verlander vetoed the deal!!! Numerous people correctly disputed McCosky's horrendous reporting.
Look at McCosky's twitter feed; it's comical!!!
Fenech did a very good job last night. Not sure about MLive.

Not all that surprising. Detroit has a long time of rebuilding.

He originally did veto the deal waiting to see if the Cubs would snap at the chance to get him.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2017 7:40 amBTW, Chris McCosky's reporting on the trade was a disaster. Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
McCosky was suggesting JV would stay here in Detroit, which was never JV's intention last night. He was either going to become a Cub or an Astro at the stroke of midnight.
Ftballfan is right regarding Victor. My point is that we're still stuck with a big bill for what amounts to little more than deadweight. Thank God it's only for 2018.

Re: Verlander Trade Rumors
MLIVE waited for the dust to completely settle before reporting on the trade, it appears. They basically credited Fenech.
Woodberry also made it a point to mention McCosky's false report from last night! LOL. He didn't flat out say McCosky fucked up, but the inference is certainly there!

Good for JV... 2 months later, he's got a ring.
