Mashmakhan is a Canadian band from Quebec that is a one hit wonder ,and thanks to The Big 8 they exposed Detroit to the 1970 Hit entitled “As Years Go By” another great song from 🇨🇦 Canada.God Bless our Neighbors.

I always enjoyed that song. Very atypical. Can’t think of anything else in all these years that sounds like it.

The 45 single & album ran 3:06 BUT when I bought the CD "Rock Artifacts: Vol. 1" (1991), the song ran 3:45. Here is the story. The song reached # 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart on November 21, 1970, and has that Leslie-and-organ-bass sound that was so popular with bar bands of that era. The song starts with some dire-sounding organ chords reminiscent of 1940s radio horror shows, then, at about 12 seconds to the song, changes abruptly to a much bouncier organ riff. Digital producer Bob Irwin observes, "this is a remix because the original single always sounded so terrible. It was compressed and limited, with none of the power that a band should project! You'll notice that in the intro and outro, Iv'e left the organ parts intact; they were edited out of the released versions, strictly for time limitation, since the unedited version makes more sense musically...the changes come easily, without the 'railroad track' edits of the original release. Engineer Vic Anesini and I remixed this from the original 16-track."
