another WPON update

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Not particularly an update of WPON, rather of Google Earth. They recently updated the aerial view of parts of Oakland County.
The April 2017 image has been replaced with a July 2018 image.
Instead of piles of antenna hardware, you can see seven standing towers .

WPON is actually the icing on the cake. The cake is WCXI. 15 kW beaming through Oakland and into Macomb County. They could be the rebirth of WHND.

Here it is at the end of November, Where is WPON ?
I just finished a few radio contacts on 3.550 MHz and decided to check out 1.460 and did not hear anything local !
Tonight , it's just the Mexican music from Indiana and some sports talk show (maybe WBRN) and a third signal down under that, but I could not make out the program...Sure not WPON tonight.
Maybe this weekend I will cruise by the site and see if any towers are visible thru the trees.

I wondered why I saw 7 towers on the WPON site ! If WCXI moves in there , I see how they could share some towers in a two station system !

This station will never return to the air on a full time basis unless it is sold or LMA'd to an outside party.

I want to see the DA proofs. I want to see what the measured conductivities are before I would jump to any conclusions.

The only reason to turn this thing on permanently is if Sima, Jr. believes he has ability to make money with it.

AM 1090 has no paid advertising of any kind and little if any brokered programming.

WCXI's bread & butter is greater Flint, northern Oakland County and NE Livingston County. In many of those regions, their nighttime signal will turn to mush if & when it relocates to Wixom. Why ruin a good thing? CXI has a devout following in the above mentioned areas.

WPON has been off the air for years & years and most people have long forgotten about the station.

Why repeat the mistakes that plague AM 1090 at two other stations?

Yeah... again I said it before, WPON will never go back on the air. 1090 is a waste of electricity.

Consider the source that makes the decisions.

Must make a great tax write off (just like ficticious "WKRP in Cinncinatti" )
