89X Signal

Post by MWmetalhead » Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:07 pm

Is it just me - or has 89X's signal seemed weaker than usual indoors these past several days?

I'm having trouble getting a stereo signal to lock on my home theater receiver.

CBE-FM at the moment seems to be coming in somewhat more easily than 89X (despite the usual interference from my X1 cable box @ 89.9 MHz) and 93.9 The River is coming in much more easily. Heck, I can even pick up 95.9 & 97.5 fairly well with my current antenna wire placement.

I think CIMX and CKLW/CIDR are diplexed into a single antenna, so either there is a problem with the CIMX transmitter or the combiner.

I'm in the 14 & Woodward area. 89X has never had a strong signal indoors here - but this is the first time I can recall that the signal seems weaker than 89.9 MHz.

You have to look at the Canadian database (easy on fccdata.org, just click on Canada) to see that they are diplexed and see the patterns. You put in CKLW on the US database, and CIDR on the Canada database.

It's static 85 percent of the time I browse the dial.

Their signal is weaker than a 5/8 erection.
