Been hearing even more 60s Motown last couple days.

Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Temptations, and Aretha Franklin I've heard so far!!

I even got my Dad to listen today as well. He loved the Louis Armstrong spin.
Then my mom this morning kept going "ooohh" in excitement over every other song, haha.

This is the first time in 8 years (when WNIC went "fresh") have we all been able to agree on one station.
I always wanted WOMC, my dad always wanted WCSX, my mom always wanted WYCD, and my Lil brother always wanted WDVD

☺☺☺☺

Hello "Detroit's New Number 1 Workday Station"

Such a perfect fun and relaxing blend of 60 years worth of hits!

Music is my life.

Now the $64,000 question... why flip 98.7 to this instead of redoing 104.3?

104.3 is in the top 2. They don’t need any “redoing.”

Not right now!But in the next 2 yrs WOMC will need to add 90’s to keep up with that age demo.Entercom seems to be on the right track with all there properties so now maybe they will no longer have underperforming stations in the Detroit Market.

Not only does 104.3 have rock solid ratings, the station has been one of the top billing radio stations in Detroit for years.

There is not much music overlap at all between the new 98.7 and 104.3.

Amp Radio's ratings stunk, were not getting any better despite recent personnel changes, and CHR nationwide is in a rut phase right now.

WOMC added 90s to the playlist last year and the ratings started going down, which was the reason they removed them.
In 2020 it will be time for the 90s on an oldies station. Not quite yet.

CHR could be always in a rut because Teens and 20 something’s are all streaming the music how many people under 30 have a radio in the house today? And very few may tune in the car but it’s getting rare.

My brother is 19 and he loved AMP radio and 955 (like i used to) and would listen to it at home too

We used to do battle of the boombox.

But I suppose it is kind of rare because he only listens to the radio at home because of MY boom boxes and CD players. He just uses his phone for everything pretty much.

EDIT:
That made me realize how retarded advertisers are wanting to target an audience that doesn't even listen. Pfft

Sampling it now finally... it’s about 25% other stuff, 25% current WOMC overlap and 50% former WOMC tracks that have been phased out...

There is certainly stuff in the playlist that WOMC once played.

But I certainly would not put that number anywhere nearly as high as 50%, unless you are referring to WOMC's Oldies era *and* WOMC's Adult Contemporary era (from the 1980's). :hat

Rock oldies from the 60's & 70's and disco from the late 70's are not at all well represented on 98.7, nor should they be.

In a half hour or so sample I only heard one song that WOMC wouldn’t have played at some point in the last ten years and it was by Adele... *maybe* Captain and Tanille... *maybe*...

I’m basically referring to anything WOMC pre whatever this “new” format is supposed to be... and if they didn’t play those exact songs they have certainly played nearly all the artists involved within this decade... so forgive me if I’m having trouble seeing a H*** departure from anything... it’s kind of like having a retro clone of a current station side by side in the same cluster...

That said there are several songs WOMC should arguably still play to liven up their playlist that The Breeze is playing now and it’s a nice change... OMC is getting incredibly stale...

We'll have to agree to disagree. Are there a good number of songs that WOMC might've played once in a while? Sure. But these by & large are not songs that were WOMC playlist staples.
