Mike Bishop has conceded to Elissa Slotkin in the 8th District. Tim Walberg survives over Gretchen Driskell.

The Bishop loss surprises me, because he led much of the evening. Soccer moms from Rochester Hills must've put Slotkin over the top.

That was a great race to watch. Slotkin, I thought, did very well in the debates (not that Mr. Bishop was a pushover; he certainly held his own). She also has an impressive resume for a freshman congresswoman, particularly in foreign affairs and defense related matters. She has a LOT of upside potential as an elected official.

Haley Stevens defeating Lena Epstein is less of a surprise. Stevens greatly outspent Epstein, and let's face it, Trott didn't run again because he probably saw the direction the winds were blowing in his district. Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham isn't exactly the epicenter of Trump Republicanism.

Happy to see Upton and Walberg win; both are solid legislators. Walberg is an advocate for criminal justice reform.

The second seat of the Supreme Court remains too close to call!

Looks like Nessel will win the AG post by two points or less.

GOP will sweep all the statewide education posts, it appears. Very interesting!

My state Senate race is deadlocked 49 - 49 between Mike McCready and left wing loon Rosemary Bayer.

John James performed very well on a relatively small budget against a popular incumbent Senator. He did better than virtually all other GOP U.S. Senate candidates here of the past 16 or 18 years. I'd be surprised if he doesn't attempt another run for either Congress or statewide office.

If he had garnered more support from national Republican campaign funding sources, he might have won.

His campaign went starkly negative in its final week. Perhaps that helped narrow the gap?

The interesting this is his commercials and campaign mailers spoke little about actual policy!

Before I forget - biggest loss for GOP arguably came from Wisconsin. Scott Walker is out as Governor there. Pete Sessions getting defeated in Texas takes honorable mention honors.

Biggest wins for GOP? I'd have to say Florida.

Big shocker for me, term-limited State Representative Democrat Henry Yanez losing to Republican and political neophyte Michael MacDonald in Michigan's 10th State Senate District (Macomb County). The Macomb Daily is positing that a great divide was between north (MacDonald) and south (Yanez).
Congratulations to Republican Lisa Sinclair for putting forth a most admirable grassroots campaign in her close but losing bid for Macomb County Clerk.

We have a blue state leadership, and the Republicans lost supermajority in the state legislature.

I got to tell you I'm not upset with the outcome from last night. I honestly don't care if there are five more Republican Senators or if they only had 50.

Let the investigations and indictments begin! It is time to get nasty on Trump.
