With the exception of WUOM and a sole recent article from the Free Press, the pathetic mainstream media in this state have paid almost ZERO attention to the wide candidate field in this race where only two seats, with eight year (!!!) terms are up for grabs.
This is a sad commentary on our media in this state. I was completely unaware these seats were even our ballot this election year!!
These people - along with six existing board seat holders - will be responsible for choosing a new Superintendent of schools in Michigan.

I'm a registered Republican, but Tami Carlone's bio pic is uber creepy. She looks sociopathic. Too bad, because many of her questionnaire responses seem reasonable to me.
Mr. Zeile - who is an incumbent - has my support.
Some in Republican circles have advocated for the elimination of the elected state board of education. I agree with that idea. 95% of the voters in this state likely have done zero research on the candidates for state of board of education seats.
The below web site summarizes how statewide school governance varies between states:

Re: The State Board of Education as an elected body needs to be eliminated
So there's only 7 states where all or a majority of members are elected? I did not know this.
Here's where those 7 states rank nationally in terms of standardized test scores:
11 Nebraska
13 Utah
15 Colorado
24 Kansas
39 Michigan
47 Louisiana
49 Alabama
Average rank 28. So these 7 states slightly underperform relative to the national average, and none are in the Top 10.
