Who will go all Christmas in Toledo

Obviously 101.5 The River, no doubt there but... will 107.7 ditch country for Christmas music for about 6 weeks again?

My hope is 105.5 does what 93.9 in Indianapolis did a couple times. Flips to The Christmas channel or North Pole radio, then debut's a new format after the holidays. I know Know wish in one hand and do the daily constitution in the other.

Will never happen. Ron Burgundy will never be released, they will continue to be mediocre.

I punched up the River a couple of times in the car yesterday and they weren't playing Christmas music yet.

I'd love if someone beat them to it and played an actual deep Christmas playlist instead of just looping Mariah, McCartney and Wham 7 million times, but that would require innovative thinking in Toledo radio. Not happening!

You are forgetting that there are really only two dominant companies in Toledo. The iheart national playlist, and the clouds lack of originality. Their ability to do anything valid on the air is subpar. It would have to be the wolf or one of the urbans to step up and that is not going to happen either.

River will be Xmas by the Christmas Parade Downtown on Nov 11th. Beth (P.) Michaels produced a spectacular deeper non-repeating title/artist playlist before she left the River for SAGA in Columbus. It was a masterpiece, which is why of course it was rejected. Wouldn't want to be innovative, or have a different song on 100.3 than 101.5, would you?
Can't understand why Cumulus doesn't let a board op, or MD, make a big deep Xmas playlist without the same 25 freakin songs and play it on 105.5 or 93.5 as they have nothing to lose. Actually, back in the day, 103.7 WTTF-FM had a nice Christmas format during 'advent' back 25 years ago, before being assimilated and moved out of Tiffin. Actually, if they didn't have local sports on, they would even sign-off the FM at 10pm!
And one step further: IF, iHeart has any brains, they would use their HD-3 capacity on the River to run a non-Christmas river equivalent, or a deep XMas HD3. BTW, why did Detroit ditch "Sunny radio' off their HD-2 ?

It seems to me one year 93.5 went all Christmas and there was a bit of a backlash from it.

I despise Christmas music. >:

I don't remember that but sounds like classic Cumulus, "our Christmas playlist will never be as cutting edge as the River"

WRQN went all Christmas in 2004, it was only songs that fit in well with their oldies format. I wonder if WRQN's listeners weren't happy with having their non-Christmas oldies off for a month or so?

When My 98.3 was still around, I preferred their Xmas playlist over the River's 50 same songs. It was fairly deeper, and that was a Cumulus station.

Sounds about right, I just remember hearing about people not liking it. If I remember correctly. My 98.3, I didn't listen to much so I don't recall.

River flipped to Christmas at 5 pm Friday. I knew something was up when they weren't playing Friday Night 80s in the afternoon like usual. Yay, get to hear the same 20 songs on the office radio for the next 50 days since they never completely 86 the Christmas music until after New Year's!

Ditto. I turned on the radio at work during break time and I usually put it on 101.5 on Fridays for 80s night. Welp... I got little Drummer Boy instead. So it begins, just shy of 2 months of bloody Christmas music.

Not to mention, I have to go to the dentist on Tuesday and... they always have 101.5 The River on. So double fun.

It looks like the River has been playing mainly the same songs for years but has added some older and some newer songs.

I wish 105.5 would go all Christmas but they won't.
