Aside from $10 a month, I miss PASS. Actually, I miss the way it used to be set up. You could see at least half of a team's games with nothing more than rabbit ears. Yes, having to pay extra for a channel sucked, but even then you could watch the scramble. We used to order it in winter for Red Wings lol.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 7:13 pmMy dad always used to make phone of his pronunciation of the word "out."
He correctly stated - "That guy must be from Canada! He says oot instead of out!"
I liked his work on PASS, which by the way was a much better network back then than the present day Bally Sports Detroit.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 6 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Yes that was Marty Adler from tv9.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:49 pmhttps://youtu.be/PY0eYX6Au8E
PASS Sports, 1990, Marty Adler.
Seeing Tiger Stadium in the game intro really makes you long for the old days.....loved going there on the tunnel bus.
Never knew he worked at PASS since our cable system couldnt carry it. Trillium Cable applied to carry but was refused by the crtc. It was a no brainer for the Windsor area.

I went to Canada about a week ago, and I decided to see for myself. Starting at the intersection of Huron Church Rd and Malden, W300DI (1310's translator) comes in pretty clearly with only minimal static.
Going south on Malden Rd, the static gets stronger once you cross the 401, and you hear CKBG cutting in and out, but W300DI is still the stronger signal.
At the LaSalle municipal boundary, W300DI is only slightly stronger than CKBG. CKBG becomes slightly stronger at Normandy St. But once you cross Reaume Rd, W300DI becomes very strong. In fact, between Reaume and Laurier, W300DI is pretty much all you can hear.
CKBG gets stronger south of Laurier, and W300DI is gone once you pass Martin Ln

Nice job splouge.....
I also did a signal test again going east toward Harrow Ont. And the CKLW antennas at Howard ave.
Suprisingky good signal even into Harrow started losing signal just past the agriculture school on main st.
Not bad for 50 watts
Got to Kingville Ont and WENZ Clev. is 24/7 there.

Great to see. Love when local radio thrives, and I hope that's the case for Amherstburg. I'd love to visit the area some day.
(Side note: @windsor, do all the big Cleveland FMs come in 24/7 in Kingsville? I'd believe it depending on how far I've heard them in other directions in Ohio.)

It looks like the non directional Class B broadcasts from Cleveland can be heard from Colchester to Elgin County if you are close to the Lake. The exceptions might be 95.5 WFHM and 100.7 WMMS due to interference.

The full powers come in like locals in Kingsville......98.5NCXschmave wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 10:56 pmGreat to see. Love when local radio thrives, and I hope that's the case for Amherstburg. I'd love to visit the area some day.

Star102.1. Magic 105.7. Z107.9. 100.7WMMS comes in but interference from CKUE 100.7.
Dont know if the locals take advantage of their enhanced reception or not. I would sure have an outdoor FM antenna if I lived there.
Amherstburg and Kingsville are little gems along the water
take the drive between the 2 on county road 50 through many wineries and beautiful scenery along lake erie. Then enjoy some food and craft beer at the Grove in Kingsville I love their Detroit style pizza.

Re: Amherstburg's NEW Radio Station ~ Coming Spring 2023
Don't forget about 93.1 WZAK Cleveland. That one comes in quite a bit overtaking WDRQ.
Re: Amherstburg's NEW Radio Station ~ Coming Spring 2023
Another reason WDRQ is overtaken in the Lake Erie area is that it is directional to protect WZAK. Here is the licensed FCC DA "envelope", the maximum relative field that is permitted in any direction.
The actual proof of performance relative field is less than or equal to the pattern envelope in any direction. It would take a very large number of DA elements to come close to the pattern envelope, and a near infinite number to very nearly match. You would find many azimuth directions where the ERP is less than the pattern envelope. DA Proofs of Performance for WLAV and WFBE are on the FCC.gov website, and they demonstrate this dramatically, the null directions being much deeper and wider than required to protect those directions, and other shallow nulls in the major lobe. That's why many facilities would rather reduce power nondirectionally than be directional on FM. Certainly that is the case for many 6000 watt upgrades from 3000 watt Class As. If you can get the equivalent of 4000 watts nondirectional, great. Some stations have gone back to 3000 after being licensed as 6000 because of this. When you are nondirectional, the ERP is actually the AVERAGE ERP, and is actually GREATER than the licensed in some directions, LESS in others. The FCC knows this, but almost no broadcaster or the FCC wants to talk about it, since next week another broadcaster may want to take advantage of this "feature" of the rules.

Chris: I still remember the old sign off they had, playing 'Synchopated Clock' over the voice announcement.

Yes, when CKLW signed off for the night in the early 1970s.
