Saw that myself. Met him a few times myself. Such a class act.
It looks like a new co-host will join Lyn Casye in the mornings starting Monday. They're calling it new and improved. My guess is this wasn't of his own accord.

Gary Shores and Jeff Lamb are both heavily criticizing Cumulus for this. I'm confident this is a firing or laying off, "retiring" is too nice here.
This is Cumulus so I'm not surprised. This is the same company that fired many great personalities like Bill Manders, Craig Snyder, Ron Finn, Norm Wamer, Amy Davis, and London Mitchell (probably the longest-tenured employee Cumulus had at the time of his firing) and now Cliff. They don't care how many years you put in there or how loyal you are. Gary says there have been at least 11 GMs since Cumulus bought all the stations, which is a pretty high turnover rate for sure.
It appears the new guy's name is Marco. I don't know anything about him and I'm guessing he moved here from somewhere else.

I thought Lyn & Cliff were doing just fine, but what can this new morning show add that Lyn & Cliff couldn't? It looks like there's new segments too, including relationship & love advice and acting out FB fights. It just seems weird to me. Show seems like it would work better on a CHR or Hot AC.

Marco Polo's past radio history doesn't seem to include Country, but more the high energy CHR or even gold stations, not country.

Cliff just got hired by Towpath Radio and will be on their station River Rat Country starting Monday.

"Hired" might be a little much, as I don't think rinkydink Other Grand Rapids "radio" pays anybody, or even makes money. And if it doesn't make money, WHY BOTHER?radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 2:59 pmCliff just got hired by Towpath Radio and will be on their station River Rat Country starting Monday.

Why do something for free sounds like a waste of time.
Re: K100's Cliff Smithers announces retirement
My guess is that he will magically appear yet on another broadcast station in some capacity

I didn't know until later that Towpath uses volunteers for jocks.FakeAndyStuart wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 10:34 am"Hired" might be a little much, as I don't think rinkydink Other Grand Rapids "radio" pays anybody, or even makes money. I totally disagree with the one poster about Cliff. I've known Cliff for a while now and He's one of the nicest guys in the business. I'm friends with him on FB and he's going after the poster regarding the post. This post is potentially inflammatory and feel Scramble might be a troll. I feel like he's possibly DBR-worthy. Just my two cents.
