Cleveland rock legend Michael Stanley died due to lung cancer. He battled it many years ago, and it resurfaced about six months ago.
The Michael Stanley Band scored two Top 40 hits. The first one 1981s "He Can't Love You" featuring the E Street Band's "Big Man" Clarence Clemons on sax. And 1983s "My Town."
"He Can't Love You" was the 47th video ever played on MTV. 1981's "In the Heartland", from the album North Coast, went to #6 on Billboard's Top Tracks chart.
He wrote and first recorded "Rosewood Bitters" (1972), was covered by his good friend Joe Walsh and became an AOR hit (1985). Walsh played on Michael's first solo album.
He also co-hosted Cleveland's locally produced "PM Magazine" 1986-1991.
He's been the PM drive personality on classic rock WNCX/98.5 since 1990.

More and more of the musical contributors to the soundtrack of my misspent youth are having their amps involuntarily unplugged.AMFMTV wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 2:54 pm Cleveland rock legend Michael Stanley died due to lung cancer. He battled it many years ago, and it resurfaced about six months ago.

Sorry to read this...
I had lost track of MSB. Still have that old vinyl "Heartland" album downstairs somewhere. "He Can't Love You" was underrated, and deserved more than regional attention.
I learned alot about what he's been doing since then. Thank you for posting.
RIP Mr. Gee
