What NON Cumulus station is for sale in Toledo?

Post by Radio Sucks » Thu May 17, 2018 12:45 pm

And wouldn’t it match up nicely signal wise once the Ticket is punched?

Wish I could say more, but it’s all off the record, on the QT and very ..Hush Hush.

that was my first guess. So Dudley is looking to Cash out, Cant remember, didn't BAS buy the station then sell it to Dudley?

Surprised to hear the WOLF being played inside of restaurants in BG; so they do actually have a nice tiny audience. Dudley should take 107.7 back to 97.3 - was it The Fox or The Wolf" - how ironic, wasn't the animal moniker when Haslinger owned it, dropped smooth jazz and went to the JACK format?

Well.. 97.3 was The Fox. 107.7 used to be The Fox under Clear Channel. Now it's The Wolf, they never bothered to change the call letters though. Toledo's Fox was classic hits not variety hits. The station seems committed to the country format.

Woof Boom could enter the market, buy 107.7 and 106.5, possibly 1520 too. Just a Theory.

Not at all - they will likely be emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy by June 30.

Pre-petition lenders will control 6 of 7 board seats once the company emerges. Most will want to cash out in that not too distant future, meaning ownership is bound to change hands yet again.

Well, if you want to know just how much Cumulus needs to dump The Ticket ASAP, they just did this.

That's exactly what happened. In 2008, BAS bought WTTF 1600 Tiffin, the Clear Channel Sandusky cluster, and WPFX's licence. The "107.7 The Fox" classic rock format was then moved over to WBUK 106.3 Findlay (which was bought by WFIN/WKXA). WPFX was taken silent as BAS spun off the station to Dudley and the COL was moved to Luckey.

WPFX's former North Baltimore COL was reassigned to WLFC 88.3, which also received WPFX's old transmission tower.

Ah ok, thanks Myron that's what I thought. That was is kind an odd situation from what I remember.

Ah.. you beat me to it. I don't know the situation or the area, in which the station in Missouri is/was located. Honestly, I could see The Cloud actually killing off 106.5, Sports moves to 100.7 maybe. If so, that could mean 106.3 in Findlay could boost there signal if they wanted to. 106.7 Detroit could be heard in part of The Toledo area.

If the license is turned in, the FCC may auction it off later as the allotment is still there. Neighboring stations can’t necessarily power up.

Well no but lets say in this scenario, WTOD is shut down. The owners of WBUK could possibly buy the license or work out a deal to increase there signal power. I am guessing that station in Missouri, eventually will probably be auctioned off. It looked like, KJZF and KJMO had similar formats.

So, now that Cumulus has exited Bankruptcy, do they have certain time frame where they have to ditch those 3 remaining stations? obviously the one in MO they just shut down. I assume PDQ.

WTOD is no longer a Cumulus station. Transferred to "The Mainstay Station Trust LLC" as of Cumulus departure from bankruptcy. They have two years to dump it.

Well.. a 3rd party in a sense but still affiliated. I suspect there going to ditch is way before that, I've given my predictions in another thread but seeing what they did in MO last week, my guess is it might be sometime this summer.

The MO situation probably relates to some broker telling them there were no prospects to sell that frequency to, so they made the best of the situation and dumped the weakest station. Keeping these three in a "trust" means they think someone somewhere wants to buy. Whoever that "someone" is that wants to punch The Ticket will need studios, STL's, offices and the like.

K-Love already has the Western Suburbs covered with 96.9, EMF needs the East side of the river to have better coverage without 3 translators. And makes no sense why they blew-up 1520.
96.5 LPFM has local Spanish programming now that covers the South end and up to West Toledo.
