It appears that there's an issue between iBiquity HD and Cumulus' Atlanta HQ.
WXKR has their HD-1 and HD-2 switched-off, as does WWWM-FM. Wonder who's next?
Perhaps it's a ploy for iBiquity to lower their payola from HD stations, BUT it has effectively killed-off "The Zone" on 94-5HD-2.

Also, WSPD (CC, not Cumulus) has had their HD exciter down for a month now, but supposedly it is because of programming/hardware issues.

I have noticed more and more radios having RDS, so it would be nice if these stations at least used RDS, if they're not going to keep the HD signal rolling along.

Sounds to me like good old-fashioned "growing pains" that our technology always goes through.

Toledo is 10 years behind the rest of the country, there still getting used to the idea of CD's over cassette tapes.

Before this thread goes too far off the deep end...

WXKR's HD being off is most likely because no one at Cumulus has noticed it's off. I doubt seriously they'd risk FCC action by turning off the "primary" station over a contract dispute. They are NOT required to feed 100.9 from the off-air HD2 (perfectly legal to feed it with an STL), but the primary has to be available. They have about a week before they either need to shut off the translator or get the HD2 back on.

Seriously? It's been off for over six months, not one. :(

It's a certificate of deposit. These places called banks have them.

Wow, I posted my message above Monday evening and Tuesday morning, the WXKR HD1 and HD2 were back on. Let me try this again...
1- The River's HD2 should come back on (been off for a couple weeks).
2 - A winning Mega Millions or PowerBall ticket should float thru my car window on the drive to work Wednesday...
Oh, please, Buzzboard genie, grant my wishes...

:rollin

Just to update - It took an extra day, but I see the WRVF HD2 IS up this morning. As for the lottery ticket, one DID fly in my window yesterday morning. I won $2. I guess I should have been more specific...

Thanks, Buzzboard Genie!

Should I ask that WSPD's HD get back on??

Go for it BAS Man: (Should I ask that WSPD's HD get back on??) = engineering won't take my calls or emails about it.

Andi Mc DID bug engineering about XKR's HD shortly after I posted, so I'll give her 1/2 credit as her looks gets things farther than I do, so BAS, don't take all the credit, only 1/2 credit!

You've got a better chance getting the C-Quam stereo turned back on at WSPD than the HD, as that technology works without a computer. Too bad they won't leave the audio in stereo on SPDy as their engineer hates the stereo to mono jumps for some oddball reason.
He did at least get RVF's HD2 going.

Now if I could just get the Cumlus engineer to at least turn the freakin' RDS on for all their stations, even if it is static info.

Records - yep, me too.
Don't forget, the farthest man-made object in the universe contains a record and stylus! (was it the Pioneer 11 or the Voyager spacecraft that has the golden plaque of the naked man & woman and the gold-plated LP?)

Speaking of HD, Best Buy is supposed to be releasing a new rev to their portable HD radio, and Sangean had a really nice AM/FM-HD portable at CES, but no sign of it in production yet.

I vote for 99.9 Toledo to add HD-2 with WSM-Nashville!

This is why I never complain!

And yes, it does!

That would be nice.
