I heard a rumor that the new Windsor station CJWF will be re-branding as "The Wolf". Anyone know any details or when it will happen?

That was the proposed original name. I haven't heard anything about rebranding to that.

There facebook said that they have changes coming to the station in the next few months. And on-air a few days ago, morning host Mitch O'Connor kept referring the station as "CJWF The Wolf"

The station sounds like a small market piece of garbage. Everything about the station sounds very canned / generic. It's not quite as pathetic as Mix 96.7, though.

How both stations afford to stay on the air is beyond me. Does the Canadian government subsidize certain radio stations that are privately owned? I hear very little advertising on 95.9 and extremely little advertising on 96.7.

I don't hear much advertising on 95.1/100.7 either! How does Blackburn make money?

Blackburn makes money the Clear Channel way: fire most of your talent and local news staff, voicetrack the crap out of everything, and sell ColonBlow on the weekends. Pathetic.

Actually, I've never heard any infomercials on any of their stations. If they do run, must be at the wee hours of the morning.

The top line numbers at CHYR and CJWF have got to be absolutely abysmal.

Windsor radio ratings are on page 11.

Numbers for 95.9 CJWF were not very good. This was there first time on the survey as they were launched back in November. It is rumored because of the very low ratings Melanie Devou from the morning show was canned. She was on AM800 for many years before being canned from there in the spring of last year.

CHYR dropped a lot from the fall survey to this spring. That station in my opinion cant find an identity. They are once again looking for a morning show team. This has to be the 5th short at a morning show in the two years since they branded as the MIX from CHEER.

Have Blackburn stations always been this bad? It seems that the worst stations are the ones that are run by Rod Martens. He is the PD for CJWF, CHYR, CKUE and CJSP. Out of those ones, the only good station is CJSP. Cordell Green is a great morning host, and Randy Reeves sounds great as the voice for the station.

CKUE is god awful, I mean "The Rock"....how original  The Mix morning show has had waaayyy to many hosts. In just two years they had Matt McNeill (3/08-8/08), Mitch O'Connor (8/08/11/09), Gary Evans (11/09-5/10) and now Rod martens is fillings in.

I know this is very far fetched, especially for CJWF, but I would love for them to step it up, add "The Wolf" branding, and actaully sound like you put time into the station.

K 106.3 in Sarnia actually sounds decent except for mornings, so that's one station Blackburn can do. That's the only one I can think of to be honest.

I agree -- CJSP is surprisingly good. Too bad the reception on the Michigan side of the border is pretty dreadful.

The Sarnia and Chatham stations are OK.

The Windsor stations are god awful, especially when taking market size into consideration. The morning changes at CHYR likely hurt their numbers. Gary Evans was brutal. He's got a voice but zero personality. Corey Roberts sucked, too. I've heard far better talent on radio stations in Northern Michigan.

I wonder how much longer CHUM will stick with The River's format. Abysmal ratings yet again in Essex County. They do seem to have found a lifestyle niche on the U.S. side of the border, though.

Chatham doesn't have a ratings service, just because Blacburn own everybody?

When Blackburn took-over Bea-Ver's decent radio properties in Chatham, they first destroyed the excellently formatted "Classic Gold 630" and made the CFCO simultcast with 92.9 FM into "Country 92-9" - also very unoriginal. All the CFCO on-air folks were dumped but one, some migrated to CKJY, some quit radio altogether. Sad. Now the 630 transmitter has gone to crap, or pattern, or ground system is shot as CKWW's 500 watts is stronger than CFCO's 10KW days!

As of this morning they are now "Country 95-9, The Motor City's Country"....and to top it all off, there top of the hour ID doesn't just say CJWF Windsor...its now CJWF Windsor/Detroit. Hmmm so are they now liscensed to Detroit???? That would be something just for the fact that Detroit had not had a brand new FM station since the 70's atleast. Anyone know what is really going on?
