Modern Rocker Radio 106-7 is now "Gen X Radio."

Clear Channel likely succumbed to increased competition for the modern rock audience. "99-7 The Rock" recently resurrected its Blitz branding, and adopted a younger / harder rocking playlist, while CD101 is rumored to be moving to a stronger signal very shortly.

I'm glad. CD 101 is a VERY well-programmed modern rocker. I even check their playlists to see what songs to download and add to my mp3 player.

CD101 is moving to 102.5 (the former WHIZ-FM in Zanesville which changed its city of license to Baltimore, OH and was most recently doing automated country as "Highway 102" WCVZ). "Highway 102" is already gone as 101.1 and 102.5 are already simulcasting. 101.1 is being sold to WOSU Public Media who will turn it into a 24/7 classical music station and convert 89.7 WOSU-FM to NPR news/talk.

Sounds like a win-win for everyone involved. Columbus has a pretty good FM dial, and it sounds like it's getting even better.

I'll trade the crusty Riff any day for the Blitz!

Howard Dean! 30 years ago, them would be 'fightin words' "...104.7 WIOT, quite possibly the shittiest rock station in American..."

It is amazing how Clear Channel 'forked' IOT, with it's heart and soul sold to the devil, you may be correct.

WIOT, was at one time, the highest rated, highest billing medium market AOR station in the COUNTRY! Yes, in the whole the US of A!

Mark Lamb, Terry Sullivan, even the girls that worked their way up the ladder there (both on-air and as PD), only to be moved to Cincy and then voicetraked back. VT and syndication has killed the original "With In Our Time" WIOT. Bob & Tom suck with their fake laugh track. The only true "personality" 104.7 has left anymore is Grizzly, and they work that guy to death over there.

Frazier Reams, Jr. had a great pair of radio stations in 1977 with WIOT and WCWA, but he, like thousands of others, were seduced by the 'dark side' of Noble Broadcasting, Jacor, Citicasters and the radio antichrist, Clear Channel. The only good thing besides Grizzly, is that they still have decent engineering and audio - so I can't bitch about that; enough said.

Getting back on topic, Saga had a really decent station down in Columbus that stole Beth "Michaels" Plumber from WRVF years back. Is she still down there either on air, or behind a desk at Saga Columbus?

I can't think of another station that lives almost solely off its legacy as much as IOT. Maybe WLUP in Chicago, but they're really not the powerhouse they once were while IOT seems to still be going strong.

It says a lot about Toledo that during the shock jock heyday this market rejected Stern, never even gave guys like Mancow or Opie & Anthony a shot, and embraced Boob and Tumor.

Ratings wise -- that simply is not true. Stern earned strong ratings on The Buzz, especially given its signal issues.

After The Buzz dropped him (due to Cumulus' purchase of the station), WKRK became one of the highest rated Detroit signals in the Toledo market.
