How can they announce moving to 100.7 if the FCC (and CRTC) hasn't approved it yet? You never know, the CRTC could claim interference based on their standards and deny the app.

Or, limit them to 38 watts on 100.7 the same as CSN had on that frequency.

Maybe they're further along in the process than we know as they've really been promoting the hell out of this frequency change the last couple days, almost as much as WTOD did with those "Cumulus Cares" promos.

Station is off the air on 100.9 as of this writing with just an open transmitter carrier on 100.9 and nothin on 100.7 so, maybe this is the beginning of the frequency shift.

Here's an idea! Why not just do away with Tower 98.3 once and for all? Keep The Zone on 100.9(or 7), Simulcast it on 1470am. Move The Ticket Soley to The FM, on 106.5 and 98.3.

Most of Friday only the 19KHz stereo subcarrier and nothing else.

I like the Ticket idea, but 1470's simulcast would attract at most 5 listeners. The towers and ground system are rotting, plus I don't see 20 and 30 somethings tuning into AM radio for music.

1470 should be sold at auction to the highest bidder. Maybe they'll find a sucker like with 1560.

MW pointed this out a long time ago but if you look at the where the sticks for both 98.3 and 106.5 are, they would work well together as simulcasts.

Thats a good point about 20 or 30 somethings not tuning into the AM, I'm willing to bet The Tickets picked up some new listeners since moving the FM. The 18-35 men, arnt listening to it on 1470am anymore but 106.5's signal fades really bad on the east side of town, once you get out near Genoa and Northwood its gone.

1470am is unlistenable at night, about all its good for would be religious or foregin language. It COULD be used to pick up for where The Zone cannot reach but even now with Sports 1470's hardly mentioned anymore with "ESPN 106.5 The Ticket" only 106.5 being mentioned.

If they did put the Ticket on 98.3 (and I realize it's all speculation), would they be able to finally get the Tigers on FM there? Or would WMTR still be able to claim infringement? I've never tried to pick up 98.3 out that way...but I think for now they might be holding onto 1470 solely because of the Tigers rights. Don't forget that they essentially kicked the Mud Hens off the station to make room for the full Tigers schedule, so I doubt Cumulus would want to lose the Tigers.

35 year old guys still know how to press "AM" when it comes to getting sports. Our shop on the East Side tunes to 1470 for Tigers' games without much thought.

I will add though, I'm really surprised how many places I've heard the "new" Zone when there's been virutally no promotion except word of mouth. I expect them to do have some really really surprisingly great ratings for a flea-power station - but I'm wondering if they'll 'tail-off' after the novelty of the station wears off?
Plus, they've got people confused with 106.5 to 100.9, then maybe to 100.7 (then who knows, simulcast on 98.3 if their 83 watts can smoke tower's ratings?)

Towers a big waste so they could do a Trimulcast for a little while then maybe phase 1470am, heck they shoulda moved Supertalk there and aired The Tigers till all that got ironed out.

I still have not a fu**in clue why they would want to go back to 100.7 MHz with 38 watts of power, when listeners seem content with 82 watts on 100.9MHz and - the word is on the street on where they landed. Now they've got to play with Canadian rules in addition to keeping within their 94.5 coverage contour and they have to 'train the monkeys' to reset their presets. Strange - "not logical" as Spock would say.

Did the FCC say they'd have to go back to 38 watts when they go back to 100.7??? Perhaps they can go up to 500 watts and put their transmitter on the tower that 107.7 is gonna be on, between BG and Toledo.

Yeah, that would make sense, lease 107.7fm.
