I'm calling shenanigans on the health story. If that's all there is to it, then why not address the situation at the time of the move instead of waiting until The Blade has to uncover it?

I'm having a hard time with the health story as well, but if that's what he wants to go with fine. I do listen to Brian, and if hes been gone for as long as the blade is inferring, he def. does his homework to make it sound like hes still in town....I think his creditability gets roughed up a bit for not being up front about the move, but still the guy does know his stuff.

Brian and Fred have been touting a big "programming" announcement coming June 1st i believe. this has been going on for a week, I am wondering if he is leaving the station....

I can see Voice tracking or even doing your show live from another city for a music show, but is this the future of radio? Your a news talk PD/Afternoon host supposedly with your finger on the pulse of what is going on in your city the one you bitch about all the politicians and you don't even live there?

That's when his predecessor, Scott Sloan's ratings went from fantastic to right down the toilet in that time slot when he started doing his show from WLW in Cincinnati and couldn't have his finger on the pulse of Toledo anymore by not watching local TV news and talking to local folks about what fired them up. Even the TV news stations have the "previously recorded" diclaimers so as not to fake that everything is "live". Even ElRusho tells us what station he is broadcasting from or if he's even in the country. I don't believe you should have your station program director be from out of state.

I applied for a job in Detroit in '80 - and I HAD to live in Wayne County as part of the employment contract! Could not commute from Monroe or Toledo, had to live in Wayne County as part of the deal - they even threw in a car allowance (which WOULD have made commuting an even better deal), but didn't take the deal; now I'm a bitter old bastard for not going for a top 10 market back then.

Anyhow, a disclaimer from stations would be the DECENT thing to do, but I doubt anybody will. I'm still amazed the Blade had such a good undercover job, even though today's article is almost word for word the same as Thursday's.

This big announcement- maybe Fred will move to afternoons and they'll have yet another syndicated show for morning drive. I don't see them hiring a local host.

"Wilson" is a piece of crap who always thought he was better than everyone in Toledo. it's nice that he is finally saying it in print, people need to know when someone is looking down on them in disgust. I must give him points for creativity, though. this residual swamp effect thing is new.

I mean, I dont blame the guy for leaving the area. Hell, in a few years time once the housing market rebounds and the countrys economy starts to pick up a little, I'm very much considering leaving the rust belt/NW Ohio area completely for green pastures myself. That said, why wasnt Wilson just upfront about it to start with.

If Wilson does leave afternoon drive at SPD, Hannity is probably the easy/cheap replacement, though I'd love to hear either Dave Ramsey or Clark Howard in that time slot, if not filled locally.

It'll be Hannity for sure, if Mumbles is gone. Makes sense, no more tape delays or occasional annoying preemptions for Indians games or the UT coach's show.

This is a prime example of the lack of public service by the former newsleader, WSPD, as the program/news director resides 500 miles away in Virginia while weather whips up winds, hail, heavy rain and some weather alerts in the listening area in Toledo, Ohio. On the air you will hear reruns and no hint of threatening weather because, as usual the station has taken the holiday off and nobody is manning place. A computer check shows 80's and sunshine in Lynchburg , Va, where Wilson and family most likely enjoy a backyard cookout.

Part One: It's a shame, as WSPD USED to be THE place to get what's happening, live and local, even before any TV station had wind of it, but I'd say I'd trust WTVG or WTOL before I'd tune into WSPD. Unfortunately, the next time the whole city loses power (like we did on August 14th a few years ago), radio was all that was left (of course WSPD's EBS era generator wasn't working) and digital portable TV's aren't going to last long on a battery - radio will be it.

Part Two: Bye-bye Wilson, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

PS: Blade had a story online this morning that Wilson was out - went back, and it's gone - wonder what's up with that?

Wilson said on the morning show that he was leaving, then laughed and announced the big announcement was a promotion for one of the programming staff, the blade had such a hard on to announce he was leaving they put it up on the site almost immediately, then when they realized it wasn't Wilson leaving, they pulled it.

Thete's a programming staff? I figured the programming dept. was a kid from IT.

Fred's producer got promoted to an upper office job or something, and the call screener is now the producer.

Brian made a big deal about Block living in Pittsburgh but focusing on Toledo. It was a valid point from him a few months ago, but now that Wilson lives in Virginia, isn't that hypocritical?
