WBNX says "So Long!" to The CW

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

As of July 16, Cleveland's CW affiliation will move from locally-owned WBNX to WUAB, soon to be owned by Gray. WUAB will cancel their 9 PM newscast and expand their 10 PM newscast back to one hour to make room for CW programming, while continuing to delay My Network to start at 11 PM. WBNX will become an independent station.

For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th) and one night in September 2017 (22nd), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

And WBNX is up against a financial wall, given that a major creditor is suing them.

For now, they will probably just throw in other syndicated programs in the 8-10 spot. Or maybe Ernest brings "The 90 and 9 Club" back to 9 PM? ;)

Tonight, WUAB announced that the 9 PM "Cleveland 19 News" edition will keep going, online only on the app/Roku/Fire. They do this already at 4 PM, calling it "Cleveland 19 News Unplugged".

According to WBNX's official July 16 schedule, the 8-10 timeslots will be occupied by reruns of The King of Queens and Funny You Should Ask. Dateline reruns will be replacing the soon-to-be-canned-anyway Robert Irvine Show.

Also, The Jerry Springer Show remains on WUAB in some form, as reruns of that show will be replacing The Robert Irvine Show this fall.

TVBR reports that WUAB is keeping the My Network TV programming, but relegating it to 1-3 AM. Ouch!

(Though My Network TV is basically two hours of off-network reruns these days.)

Then, there's that whole foreclosure lawsuit against Ernest Angley and WBNX.

Good news is that channel 43 can air the over-aired and toasty "This is home."

Wow, Cumulus Toledo part-timers can now make $8.30 an hour. How generous!
