W38DH is now WVMY-LP

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

WVMY is now WDMY. So did WDMY find a new home in the Channels 2-36 band yet?
According to RabbitEars, not yet. The WVMY call got moved to a station in West Virginia that was also bought by Marquee. The way things are going, they may have to bring back their analog signal before January (the month the station went off the air) so the station doesn't lose its license. For a digital signal, they'll probably have to wait until later in the repack process when other LPTVs can apply for new channels. But at least the analog signal will likely have something other than HSN.
Hopefully not infomercials.

It looks like WDMY-LP will be off the air a little longer, as they submitted an application to stay silent on the grounds of being displaced by NWNO (which means they probably won't bring back their analog signal). They're also still trying to find a new tower for their transmitter (which was the reason why they initially went silent a year ago).

On a semi-related note, it looks like WDTJ-LD might be off the air? I haven't been able to pick it up when scanning for channels in the past few weeks (whereas my TVs used to indicate a "strong" signal for 68). Perhaps it's too early to jump to conclusions, but wouldn't it be great if Daystar sold the station to someone who'd give us lots of subchannels? Perhaps DTV America? :o

Kinda sucks they did that, but I suppose it was one of those tricky situations and it didn't work to their advantage.

Would be nice. Love to see those guys over over and just throw whatever at us! I feel we deserve it best.

Is the analog on CH38 anymore? I haven't done a scan in a while, and it was my old 'test station' for old NTSC TV's. Can they still use analog until they get their new digital HDTV assignment?

No, the previous owners (Ventana Television) shut down the analog signal over a year ago because they couldn't renew the lease on the tower. The current owners (Marquee) are still looking for a new tower, but it looks like they're primarily focused on switching to digital.

And I too wish they still had it, as it would bring at little life into the extra CRT TVs in my house that I never use.

Even if it was just a shopping channel anyway.

Didn't one guy say that ch 23, via 38.0, had to be on prior to the Jan 1, 2018, or they lose their license?
Wow, Cumulus Toledo part-timers can now make $8.30 an hour. How generous!

Yes, but since they're being slowed down by the repack, and the station changed owners during that period, the FCC might make an exception. Of course, their new STA application is "Pending," so it could go either way.

Would suck if they do lose it.

Not to double-post, but I checked one of my e-mail sites and saw DTV America responded to a question I had!
Thank you for your email Chris. Right now we have no towers or approvals to construct in that area. We update current listings on www.dtvamerica.com and will let you know in the future!
