I heard a mystery classic hits station on 106.3 today. Very weak and mixing with WGLM. Two things lead me to believe this station may be back on:
1. I saw a 300W STA for WMXG on CDBS
2. 104.7 and 107.3 Escanaba were very strong at the same time I heard the mystery 106.3

I'm guessing there may some activity soon, since it looks like Lyle's estate is set to be finally settled.

Could a sale be on the horizon?

That would be my guess.

I heard a mystery signal on 106.3 mixing with the Mitten in Manistee. It was airing Rush Limbaugh. I wonder if 106.3 is now simulcasting WCHT (who airs Rush in Escanaba)

I can now confirm that WMXG is simulcasting WCHT. It was in strong today and managed to catch a legal ID: "WCHT Escanaba, WMXG Stephenson-Escanaba"

I'm wondering if this is temporary. There is nothing on the RRN website. A call to station revealed nothing. Too, they (under co-owned baycitiesonline.com/) own 1340 WAGN. The FM 106.3 signal is dominant in Marinette area. Just wondering how this will all pan out.

Radio station web sites that do not offer music logs or at least a "songs recently played" list are stupid.

Hopefully something decent comes out of the purchase. It's a big tower that covers a good chunk of the UP's population (moreso if someone sprung to take it to 100,000 watts). A rock format like 98.7 The Rockin' Eagle in Houghton would do well here.

106.3 has been stunting as "106.3 the King" with all-Elvis music. At least it was as of last night. The 106.7 in Iron Mountain, as well as 106.3s in Thompsonville and Onaway, would likely preclude WMXG from getting an upgrade.

The new format is -- Classic Country!!! GREAT CHOICE!

This should be a good performer given the area served by WMXG.

There are probably some jealous folks in northern lower Michigan right now.

Too, Yooper Country is now toast. Now using the Maverick branding. Very recent adjustment.

Wonder if WUPG, WMXG, and WTIQ play the same songs at the same times with different IDs.

I can't speak for WTIQ as I can't receive it, but I was scanning the band the other day and WUPG and WMXG were playing the same song at the same time.

Speaking of stations doing similar things, WWDK plays songs exactly an hour prior to WGEE/WDKF (the same "time" with the time zone difference)

Now that 102.5 the Moose gets downgraded to 60kw, would it make sense to have the 3 Country FMs as 96-7 102-5 106-3 Maverick" or "Maverick Country" and a simulcast? There seems to be an overlap on the three.

Is 96.7 on yet? Haven't been on in a few months right after rebranding from Yooper to Maverick.

Too much overlap between 102.5 & 106.3, IMO. Downgrade or not, 102.5 is still going to be perceived as an Esky/Gladstone station.

I think the fact 102.5 is being forced to downgrade due to some insipid, poorly written FCC policy is outrageous. How on earth does that serve the "public interest" ?
