Yeah to bad the new WLLZ will never play "I Could Be Good For You", or "Time to Move" by Bitter Sweet Ally, or "Broken Halos" by Rhythm Corps

Earlier this afternoon they played Rainbows "Man On The Silver Mountain". That gives me a glimmer of hope.

Couple of GREAT tunes that I know WRIF played in the 90s. Local H, Social Distortion and COC were frequently played and are always on my iPod. I would love for those songs to have a fighting chance!

Deftones never seemed to get much love over the years, either.

I don't know about you (and I'm sure I'll catch some shit over this), but Creed's first album wasn't terrible, and I wouldn't mind a song or two from that one, and some Days of the New would be cool, too.

Pretty sure I heard both of those bands first on The Edge!

Banana in Flint still plays Days Of The New. Last I heard, as of a few months ago, they sounded like a carbon copy of WRIF circa 2001 with a few later songs added. Saliva, Puddle Of Mudd, Papa Roach, etc. It makes me realize how comatose rock is now. The only brand new stuff they played was Shinedown, and thats not a new band.

What gets played and why has long been of great mystery to me. Are PD's actually hate-filled and deaf?

I'm reminded of an early '90's conversation with my BFF the board-op, where I begged him to point out to his masters that I was driving around with $4,000 worth of audio gear in my Civic but I was listening to David Newman.

I agree that rock is pretty flatlined. At least in the mainstream. Small wonder pop, rap and country are the big sounds these days, when bands like Disturbed, Trapt and Shinedown were some of the bigger rock bands before rock went in the toilet as something you might catch someone listening to. I think there were a couple of Volbeat songs I enjoyed; that's about the extent of mainstream rock that's caught my ears over the last decade or so. It was really getting to be slim pickins before that, too.

That said, there's still some decent stuff from the 90s MW eluded to earlier. Like I said, Creed's first album was pretty good (in parts). Even My Own Prison or One would be great choices. But, I know if a band like Creed is played, it's gonna be something like Higher or With Arms Wide Open. Blech.

Another song I thought of that used to get frequent plays was Again by Alice In Chains. I prefer that to Heaven Beside You, but I'm sure there's a reason that one never gets busted out. Same thing with Muzzle by Smashing Pumpkins and I Choose by The Offspring. Nobody remembers them!

I often wonder what the original WLLZ had played if they'd stayed on the air. 1996 was a pretty decent year for mainstream rock acts again. Metallica, Van Halen, AIC, Kiss and Soundgarden were all over rock radio. Albums like Insomniac by Green Day and Mellon Collie by Smashing Pumpkins carried over from 1995, and I can't forget about Sponge and STP, both with fairly big albums in 1996. Damn shame they didn't make it.

What the freak is a "bullgod ?" (Oh,right,we're talking Rip-Off Robert Ritchie here !!!) I prefer the late Detroiter Kub Koda's "Smokin' In The Boys' Room" to Motley Crue's still-listenable cover .

Question, If WLLZ stayed around in It’s original form (when it ended in’95) and was still in existence today would it play the stuff that fake Wheels is playing today?
