You do know that you have to get 67 voles in rhe Senate to CONVICT, don't you? And that Mike Pence, not Hillary or Obama, like many young people believe, would be President. And that collusion is not a crime? And that no one has accused President Trump of a crime under US Code? Only innuendo that at the worst, would be bad optics, not a crime. It's neither a crime or misdemeeanor, let alone a high crime or misdemeanor, under US Code.

You do know that Nixon was not CONVICTED of anything, don't you? And that any Constitutional Amendment would require that two thirds of the state legislatures to ratify it for it to became valid?

And that Comey Dog said that if anyone else had done what Hillary did, they would have been prosecuted? If any prosecutor had brought charges, Loretta Lynch would have quashed it, and Obama would have pardoned her in advance of any trial. And that that prosecutor's career and life would be basically over.

How can anyone call that justice?

Disagreeing with Communists is NOT an impeachable offense.

High crimes and misdemeanors is whatever congress thinks it is and if they think any of it is bad they can impeach him for it. Impeachment is a political act, NOT a legal one therefore U.S. code is irrelevant in that conversation. High Crimes and Misdemeanors isn’t in the U.S. code and neither is impeachment.

Absolutely correct, but where that 'defense' (if you want to call it that) fails is not acknowledging how it really went down. That being members of Congress going to the White House and explaining to Nixon that with the overwhelming amount of evidence of crimes committed, they would no longer be able to protect him against impeachment and/or prosecution. Read that more pragmatically as "You've been caught red-handed and we're not going to put our political careers on the line to protect you". Not every Republican felt that way but there were enough that did to seal his fate. Quaint times.

It may play out like that for Trump but I'd put the odds at 50/50 the cultists will draw out the process long enough for Trump to either ride out his term or be replaced due to some "medical issue". It's also possible he'll simply do something so batshit crazy that it gets him taken out of the building in a straitjacket. Not to be repetitive but screwed is screwed.

This is getting good.
The Trumpophiles are having fits as their MAGA man and his fakakta cronies watch their “Witch Hunt” bring down treasonous conspirators and obstructors.
(Although Ivanka could fly to HER hell on a guilded broomstick.)
Turn up the TV, fluff the couch cushions, make a lot of popcorn. This is one reality show’s finale you don’t want to miss.

Lester reminds us of an important fact. US Senator Barry Goldwater and other republicans made a quick trip to Nixon’s house to explain that evidence of his wrong doing was so overwhelming he probably WOULD be impeached - because he’d become synonymous with reelection defeat for any republican office holder. Due to Watergate and the coverup - Nixon had become a political pariah.

However Nixon could clearly see the signs he was finished. Unlike mentally ill Trump whose NPD often prevents him from seeing things as they are.

So Trump could refuse to bow out pre-impeachment - no matter his reason for exit - and instead refuse to leave the people's house - convinced it’s his house forever. And - that Donald Trump is king!

Take his straightjacket off the hanger, please.

Trump's winfest keeps on rolling. Now the states are piling on. He has no pardon power for NY, MD or DC...
The attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia are preparing to move forward with subpoenas for President Trump's businesses in their lawsuit alleging he is in violation of the U.S. Constitution's emoluments clause.

U.S. District Court Judge Peter J. Messitte gave the order for discovery in the case to proceed to D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, who have accused Trump of illegally profiting off the presidency. The list of subpoena targets will be released on Tuesday.

Emoluments Lawsuit Against Trump Can Go Forward, Judge Says
"We will now serve subpoenas to third-party organizations and federal agencies to gather the necessary evidence to prove that President Trump is violating the Constitution's emoluments clauses — our nation's original anti-corruption laws," Racine said in a statement.

Right now The Trump name - which he’d sell to entities who wanted it displayed on their buildings - does not have the same high amount of value it did before his infamous presidential gaffes. Which verbally and behavior-wise are extensive and memorable worldwide. Same with Ivanka’s brand of cothes, jewelry, etc.

Here's an interesting take: HIS PRESIDENCY MUST BE ANNULLED

Impeachment isn't realistic.
The only way I see the end of Trump is if there’s overwhelming evidence he rigged the 2016 election. In which case impeachment isn’t an adequate remedy. His presidency should be annulled.

Let me explain. Many people are convinced we’re already witnessing the beginning of the end of Trump.

In their view, bombshell admissions from Trump insiders with immunity from prosecution, combined with whatever evidence special counsel Robert Mueller might uncover about Trump’s obstruction of justice and his aides' collusion with the Russians, will all tip the scales.

Democrats would take back the House and begin impeachment, and the evidence of impeachable offenses would put enough pressure on Republican senators to send Trump packing.

I don’t believe this for a moment.

First, the Senate has never in history convicted a president of impeachment.

Second, even if Democrats flip the House in November, Republicans will almost certainly remain in control of the Senate—and so far they’ve displayed the integrity of lizards.

Third, Fox News and the rest of the right-wing sleaze media will continue to distort and cover up whatever the evidence shows—convincing 35 to 40 percent of Americans, along with most Republicans, that Trump is the innocent victim of a plot to remove him.

Finally, Trump himself will never voluntarily resign, as did Nixon. He’ll lie and claim a conspiracy to unseat him.

You Trump haters are overlooking one key difference between Trump and Nixon - the Watergate scandal took Nixon's approval ratings from the 50s into the low 20s. Trump's approval rating sits steady at 42-43 and most people have made their minds up as to what they think about the Trump/Russia "scandal." His approval rating will stay above 40 no matter what happens from here on out. And it will probably remain above 80 with republicans.

Trump will not only "ride out his term" but he will be a strong contender for re-election in 2020. And if he wins - it won't be Trump being taken out of the White House in a straight jacket, but rather many of his haters being taken out of their homes in straightjackets.

You seem pretty confident. You should put some money down on this.

You can make a 37% profit simply by Trump not being re-elected in 2020.

Reich has always been a little out there... there isn’t a mechanism that would annull the Trump presidency and even if there were Pence would be next in line. There is no mechanism to get Hillary in there or anything like that. So this is bullshit rather than an interesting take...

"Nixon's surge in approval evaporated almost as quickly as it appeared. The relentless uncovering of damaging information about the Watergate scandal through the spring and summer of 1973 led to a steady deterioration in public approval of Nixon month by month. By May, Nixon's rating had dropped to 44%, and by August, it was at 31% -- representing a 36% drop in about six months. (A year later, in August 1974 when he resigned from office, Nixon's rating was 24%)

Ronald Reagan was the second president in recent history to see his public image damaged by a scandal, but the impact of the Iran-Contra revelations was both more immediate and ultimately less severe than was Watergate for Nixon. The facts surrounding Iran-Contra became public in November 1986. Reagan's job approval fell from 63% in October 1986 to 47% in December, and ultimately to 43% by March 1987 - representing a 20% point decline in about five months.

Geo. H W Bush had a long way to fall. His late February, 1991, rating of 89% -- the result of the Allied victory in the Persian Gulf War -- remains the highest ever recorded by Gallup polling dating back to the days of Franklin Roosevelt. Bush, in fact, enjoyed such high public esteem that he was thought to be undefeatable in his bid for re-election in 1992. By the fall of 1991, however, Bush began to fall victim to continuing public perceptions of a weak U.S. economy, and by December he had a rating of only 50%. By the summer of 1992, his job approval sunk as low as 29%, a crash of 60 percentage points in a period of 16 months."

- Frank Newport, Gallop

Somehow Trump is immune from rapid and declining shifts in approval ratings?

I might take that bet... losing 50% support isn’t happening but I’ll buy that he lost more than the combined 70,000 voters in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that made him win in 2016. Without those three he has no path forward. His approval has dropped sharply in all 3 states and no Hillary State is going to switch sides... he has a monumentally uphill battle here to be re-elected because his margin was razor thin the first time...
