I don't think Onaway counts against them.

Kudos to Joel0314 for good detective work. :) So, we now know that at a minimum, the sale of 106.7 to Baraga is likely no longer occurring.

This story has a number of interesting angles. If Blarney Stone still wants - and is able - to move forward, one assumes they could simply ask for 106.7 to be included in the package. The problem with this scenario (if you're Northern) is that Blarney isn't going to pay for 106.7 what Baraga was willing to pay, because Blarney ultimately will need to spin off that property or one of their other properties.

A more palatable scenario may be to allow Blarney Stone to operate 106.7 on an LMA basis while Northern Radio retains ownership and seeks a buyer. Not sure if this arrangement would be permissible to the FCC, though.

The irony here is that the recently expanded Nielsen DMA has complicated the playing board, yes? MacGar wouldn't be over the ownership limit if Wexford County were still outside of the DMA boundaries, correct?

I never can keep track of the counties that are "in" or "out" anymore. I know Wexford and Otsego Counties were recently added to the DMA. What were the other two counties again? (I want to say Crawford and Cheboygan.)

Would unloading the puny 97.7 WCHY-FM signal help Black Diamond's cause? If so, trading that garbage signal for 106.7 seems like a no-brainer to me. Heck - I'd trade 98.1 WGFN for 106.7 WKPK's facilities! (There's no way in hell I'd unload 95.5 instead of 98.1, though. 95.5 has superior areal coverage; there is far more interference from distant stations at 98.1 MHz.)

If I were MacGar, I'd much rather have KLT/KLZ under my wings than my two shitty Cadillac stations.

The other two are Cheboygan and Manistee. BSB would have had to unload two more of Northern's stations (or their Grayling stations) if Crawford were included.

The next few months could be quite interesting.

I could have sworn Cheboygan and Crawford (as well as Otsego and Wexford) were added to TC-Petoskey, not Manistee.

This deal is falling apart for one reason only... MONEY!!!!

Northern wants out.. cash out. Blarney hasn't got it, and can't get Northern to carry any paper.

This deal is dead and will need a white knight with a BIG checkbook to revive it.

If 106.7 is going to Midwestern, the sports format could be maintained as a simulcast of 1310. However, I feel like I've heard that CBS Sports Radio isn't faring well on the station.

Please remember that Bob Fm is owned by the Mac Garb kid's trust. It's not restricted by limits and Finster seems to be doing well. WKPK would get the current 6k station into Petoskey and Gaylord, where Finster did well as part of the Omlette show. They probably would buy it at a low ball price.

That would be a great idea I have always wondered why they haven't done something with BOBFM it seems to do pretty good in TC so it should do good in Petoskey Gaylord ETC

Might not matter. It is clearly controlled by MacGarb proper. Would be easy for someone to file an objection to any assertion that Bob-FM doesn't fall under the same umbrella as KHQ, Lite 96.3, et al. Anyone's guess as to how the FCC would rule as to such a dispute.

I do agree that a 104.5 / 106.7 (I was the one who started calling it WKPK earlier - sorry - I meant to say WSRT) would be terrific!

How does 101.5 Gaylord compare to Bob FM? Have never seen much commentary on here about the Gaylord station.

Why don't they just spin off 93.7 and move the Ticket format to 96.7 so they could buy 106.7? The idea of Bob FM on WSRT sounds interesting.

I'm not entirely sure about this.

Doesn't mean much of anything. I hear commercials done by Jack O'Malley on several non-Midwestern stations (mostly the group down in Ludington).

It would appear that Northern and Blarney Castle are now in some type of partnership agreement. They are now both having the same contest to win an R.V. on their stations, plus take a look at the contest rules on their respective websites.
