They already had the funeral on this deal...

"...termination, effective May 9,2017, of the Asset Purchase Agreement.. based on Buyer's failure to provide Proof of Financing.."

With public files online, you can find anything. Here's the termination letter filed with the FCC.

https://publicfiles.fcc.gov/api/manager ... 7582dc.pdf
Many thanks for the info.

So, my earlier hunch from many months ago was correct - the purchase was unable to close because Blarney Stone was unable to obtain financing.

Now that Blarney Stone is operating the Henderson stations via an apparent LMA, I would be a little uneasy if I were Northern. Blarney Stone has had access to client lists and all sorts of intellectual property with respect to Northern's stations for the past couple years, and now, they'll be competing against those same stations!

WLDR is a pariah. The real assets at Northern are the sales team. There are many good stations with empty stopsets. Sales leadership is key and Blarney Stone has zero credibility in the market. Midwest, MacGarb and Northern are strong, Black Diamond is aggressive.

IMHO, the Henderson stations pair better with Blarney Stone than the NBI stations, and I have thought that for a while.

I also see where the WOUF calls have been moved over to 100.1 (CP 100.7).

...but with a different operator now at the helm, WLDR now has a chance to undo its negative brand equity.

Do you think Blarney Stone (B.S. for short) will have any luck at plucking any of Northern's more seasoned salespeople?

B.S. has definitely pumped some money into its Q100 brand lately. The station now has some slick sounding, professionally produced imaging. I agree with keeping the "Q100" name, by the way. 99.3 is close enough to "100" that I see no need to change. I do not like stations with long monikers. Years ago, "Real Rock 105 and 95-5" always sounded like a mouthful.

It appears usage of the "The Bay" as a brand name for WLDR has been discontinued. Does the station still feature a playlist that can best be described as "almost Hot AC," or have modifications been made? When I last heard the station two and a half years ago, the playlist reminded me of Atlanta's B98.5. I thought the playlist at that time was well crafted.

I can answer that question for you - they definitely are NOT using the CP facilities. I just drove on US-10 earlier today. I could hear nothing other than fuzz @ 99.3 MHz. Zero sign of WQAN / WOUF.
Confirmed. I was listening to them this morning when the DJ Jabo said something to the effect that they are raising their power on 99.3 in a "couple of weeks".

I wonder when the sports format will begin on 92.3. They're still simulcasting WLDR.

WSRT 106.7 - You may have reached "The Peak", but you still struggle to climb the mountain of success.

Furthest FM Tropo Catch:
KEZO-FM 92.3 Omaha, NE
Recieved on 7/8/2018, 570.16 miles from Long Lake Township, MI

I imagine they could grab some of the non-producing sales team from Northern Broadcasting. You have to understand that the pool is only so big in a community of 120,000 people. You have 14 monthly publications, two television operations, Cable, 2 daily publications, and 26 radio signals. We all know that social media is the only medium that generates sales for small business anymore, and with the exception of 50 companies, that's what Traverse City is about.

It will take them five years to build an audience worthy of a media buy. I can't see anyone legitimate wanting to jump ship from one of the most established operations with a substantial heritage in lieu of the latest Fly by Night broadcaster.

Blarney Stone may have credibility in Grayling but who the hell cares about that in Traverse City?

So no one here is able to speak to WLDR's current music format?

Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass

(spots)
JoJo's Natural Market in Gaylord
Sacy's Restaurant - Bay Mills Resort and Casino
Liberty Mutual
McDonalds

(DJ commentary)
Dan the Engineer showed up!
ID'd as "the New 101.9 WLDR -- the music leader"

(music)
Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Sugar Ray - Fly
Sam Smith - Stay with Me

(DJ commentary)
Top of the hour IDs for WLDR and WARD
local news

(music)
Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
Bebe Rexha - Meant to Be
Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes
Passenger - Let Her Go

(spots)
American Red Cross
Optima Tax Relief

(DJ commentary)
"The Morning Scramble"
ID'd as "Northern Michigan's Music Leader

(music)
Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

WQAN's CP would make it only the second commercial station (and third overall) to have TC, Cadillac, and Manistee inside its 60dBu contour

Is an Omelette & Finster reunion forthcoming? Not sure moving from BOB-FM to The Bear would be an upward career move, though.

Black Diamond pays for talent, no one else seems to.

They do? I hear lots of voicetracking on Black Diamond stations.

The Bear has a massive signal advantage compared to BOB-FM. Despite WGFN being a rimshot, its 60dBu almost goes as far east as WZTC's (the only area that is within WZTC's 60dBu but not WGFN's 60dBu is sparsely populated). WWSS, despite not being a full C2, still has Petoskey, Gaylord, and Cheboygan inside its 60dBu.

In northern mason county. WLDR is coming in better now. Wonder if they are back to full power or close to it, also sounds like a hot ac/ac hybrid. Wbnz is static and wouf doesn’t even come in here but in TC it’s really strong, Wonder where wouf is broadcasting from?

When you say WOUF, are you referring to 99.3 or 100.1/100.7 ?
