Pensacola man accused of leaving naked wife on side of highway and setting her car on fire

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR-TV) — A Pensacola man is facing jail time after being arrested for battery and arson charges according to Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO).

ECSO says on Saturday, July 13 they were called out to the 8000 block of Gregg Road to assist with a fire.

When deputies arrived, the report says 55-year-old Donald Allen Moran and another male, later identified as a victim were laying in the front yard.

The victim told ECSO within the report, Moran slapped him in the face and lit his wife’s car on fire.

The victim stated, he observed Moran pick up an orange gas can and start pouring gas through the open driver’s side door onto the driver’s side set of the car says the report.

Moran then watched the 2013 Infiniti car burn before he grabbed a water hose and started spraying water on the fire, says the report.

A witness told ECSO, they asked Moran what he was doing and then contacted the fire department.

The reported revealed Moran then walked over to the man’s house, got in his face and slapped him.

The victim stated he grabbed Moran put him on the ground and held him there until the sheriff’s office arrived, says the report.

The victim told deputies in the report, he called the fire department because he was afraid the fire would spread to nearby houses.

When deputies spoke with Moran to find out the whereabouts of his wife, the report says he refused to tell them and to provide the key to the house.

ECSO says they had to forcefully enter the home to conduct a welfare check on Moran’s wife, but they were still unable to locate her says the report.

The sheriff’s office says they were able to reach Moran’s sister-in-law who told them his wife was okay and she had been at the beach all day.

When deputies contacted Moran’s wife by phone, she stated she and Moran had been at the beach all day and he left her on the Scenic Highway naked, says the report.

Moran’s wife said she had to wave a citizen that was driving by and they called the sheriff’s office who later took her to her sister’s house, says the report.

ECSO says they did a records check which revealed Moran had a prior guilty conviction for sexual battery on a victim under 12-years of age in 1986.

The sheriff’s office says “due to the fact that Moran made spontaneous statements about lighting the vehicle on purpose,” and struck a man in the face and multiple witnessed observed both incidents he was placed in custody and transported to Escambia County Jail.

Moran was charged with arson and battery and given a total bond amount of $25,000, according to ECSO Jailview.

Folks.....no matter how good the price, avoid any 2013 Infinities popping up with "fresh cosmetic work" in Florida for awhile....
