Lansing - Nielsen Audio 12+ AQH results - Fall 2018 survey

Wow - I'm stunned 92-1 Fuel FM is performing so poorly! (sarcasm)

Duke-FM continues to show resilience. Great book for WMMQ.

WJR has lost 75% of its Lansing area audience over the last decade.

The MacDonald stations - as usual - are not listed.

My .02.....probably all it's worth:

The only thing that surprised me about 92.1 is that it was as high as .8. This station has .2 written all over it. I have seen zero promotion whatsoever for it, and obviously the product leaves much to be desired.

WUOM scored respectable numbers in Lansing - not surprised as I hear many people refer to listening to that station as well as WVGR. My question - why does WKAR-AM air BBC World Service programming for most of the day instead of trying to get some of those ratings numbers by airing the typical NPR talk programming? Does WUOM or some other station hold exclusive rights to those programs in the Lansing area? Especially now that they have 105.1, it seems that they are missing a big opportunity.

It will be interesting to see how country on 107.3 will affect the country ratings in Lansing. WITL seems to be impacted by Duke, and adding another listenable country signal into the Lansing area won't help its cause in getting back to the top of the ratings heap.

I don't remember exactly when 92.1 flipped, but I'm pretty sure it was mid-book. Some of that number is residual from the old Sports/Talk format.

I'd love to see the breakdowns as I'm sure Duke has made inroads to WITL's 35+ demo. Country, IMO, is probably the most rapidly-evolving music medium today, even more so than CHR or AC. The comparison between contemporary Country music and that of just 10-20 years ago is like apples and oranges. It's like comparing Steppenwolf's Born to Be Wild with Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock. Same genre. Different music. Different audience. Duke found a niche and it appears to be paying off for them.

Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.

I think 92.1 flipped around or shortly after the start of the Fall book. I've driven through the area twice since the flip. Time #2 was the week of Thanksgiving. I believe time #1 was late September.

Thunder 107.3 should have very little impact in the Lansing market. The programming on that station is inferior to what WITL offers. In Grand Rapids, Thunder generally pulls 1/3 to 1/2 the ratings of B93. In the Lansing market, B93 and Thunder have comparable signals now. B93 is generally good for about a 1.5 or 2 share in the Lansing market. I'd expect 107.3 to be in the 0.5 to 1 range.

Midwest abandoned "Duke FM" in Evansville recently.

LOL, 92.1 Puke FM has the same ratings as Star 105.7 50 Miles away.

This is really too ashamed. DUKE FM is a super alternative for those who don't like "new" country. Seems when something new comes along, the stuff that came before it is just forgotten about and therefore that listener becomes alienated from said channel.
