Hold your horses sparky... you’ve got to be more careful than that... there is a big danger of overreaching ala the 1994 Republicans and Bill Clinton... so you could end up killing your chances in 2020 by going whole hog on it...TC Talks wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 11:44 amWe have a blue state leadership, and the Republicans lost supermajority in the state legislature.
I got to tell you I'm not upset with the outcome from last night. I honestly don't care if there are five more Republican Senators or if they only had 50.
Let the investigations and indictments begin! It is time to get nasty on Trump.

Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
I was wrong earlier regarding the state education races. A number of those results did a proverbial 180 during the overnight and early morning hours. The Democrats made noteworthy pickups on all three university boards. Of the six open trustee seats across three universities, the Dems made a clean sweep! When I went to bed at 1130 last night, it appeared the opposite was going to occur.
I just learned that Wayne County reported its results for those races absurdly late.
I have no idea now where the Supreme Court and state board of ed races stand. Anyone know?

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Clement 30
Kavanaugh 25
Wilder 24
State Board of Ed (99% in):
Tami Carlone (R) 24
Judith Pritchett (D) 24
Tiffany Tilley (D) 22
Richard Zeile (R) 22
Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
Where have you been following for those? I've been on AP, which has the Court race but not any of the state or university boards. They have ~57,000 votes separating Cavanagh and Wilder.

In this case that’s what WXYZ has... I hate that these are so hard to find information on and that it is inconsistent...
Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
In the State House, the 104th was very close with Inman eeking out a small win over O'Neil while over in the 101st, O'Malley defeated Wiejaczka by more than I thought (O'Malley won by about 15 points; I was thinking it would be within 5 points)

I have a feeling that not being able to vote straight ticket in this election helped those candidates tremendously.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 6:22 am
GOP will sweep all the statewide education posts, it appears. Very interesting!
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
That’s also no longer the case in both last nights results (they’ve all flipped blue again which makes sense given the other results) and straight ticket voting is back long term...Bryce wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 2:33 pmI have a feeling that not being able to vote straight ticket in this election helped those candidates tremendously.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 6:22 am

We all know why. Those precincts are certainly no bigger than other areas, and shouldn't take any longer to count. In 2016 there was at least one precinct in Detroit where Hillary got more votes than there were total registered voters.I just learned that Wayne County reported its results for those races absurdly late.

Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
The precincts are bigger because there is more population there then in say Lenawee County or something... you get 5000 voters in a precinct in one place and 2000 in another... this stuff isn’t evenly divided at all.Ben Zonia wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 2:47 pmWe all know why. Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
At this point do Dems put up a progressive or conservative candidate for 2020? Who would that be?
I'd be happier with just fucking with Trump and his family and who knows, he may be in prison by then...

Re: 2018 Election Results Thread
Given yesterday’s results it’s got to be a Joe Biden or a Sherrod Brown... Midwest and probably white and moderate... Trump will run a progressive into the ground... progressives don’t win any more than conservatives do in swing areas... you must have a moderate. Sorry to disappoint you.TC Talks wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 3:38 pmAt this point do Dems put up a progressive or conservative candidate for 2020? Who would that be?

Mueller almost certainly will not indict Trump and the Democratic House May be playing with Fire there... if Trump sees the end near he will probably do as much damage or change as many things as he can (depending on your perspective) on the way out, whether that’s through removal, losing in 2020 or while a lame duck in 2024.

It would almost certainly need to be a female. The results from last night clearly show the Republicans have lost women in the suburbs.

How about Amy Kloubachar? She outpaced Tina Smith in the dueling senate races by 7 in Minnesota (both won)... Warren, Harris and Gillibrand are non-starters as is Bernie.
