Mid-Michigan NOW’s overworked, underappreciated Chief Met Erik K. is finally catching up to WNEM & WJRT. Now that it’s almost January and the National Weather Society's Winter Weather Hazard Awareness Week was nearly TWO months ago, Erik is getting down to business to prepare viewers for winter storms. Is he doing a deep dive into data? Nope. Is he doing an exclusive interview with the state climatologist? Nope. How about revisiting areas mist impacted by last year’s Christmas storm outage? Forget about it! He’s doing a Facebook live we that will draw about three people, one being a WEYI employee throwing Erik softball questions.
Research says weather’s the number one way to convert viewers. This just shows again how out of touch this station is.

I thought the last 2 nights of FOX66 news at 10 showed how evident they were in being out of touch. Weather piped in from Traverse City one night and the “local” stories from reporters were also out of TC. A couple of Flint local stories, only one with video.
If they’re going to be so damn half assed about running the station and their news operation, then just sell the damn station to someone who gives 2 shits about news.

Sinclair is the only broadcaster in America that believes getting news and weather from a smaller market is an acceptable business model.
