In a not so veiled slam at 25-66, Leslie posts on her Facebook page a link to Lizzo’s song “About Damn Time” and the following message:

“ Since I announced my upcoming retirement from broadcasting on my professional Facebook page, a few people have reached out concerned. I just want to say this is indeed a good thing, and I am very happy about it.”

Leslie is done with the BS politics she’s facing at 25-66… plus the brutal morning hours.

So what are they going to do for meteorologists now? Erik obviously can't do it all. I don't think 7&4 or WWMT have anyone to spare to go help "long-term"

I’m sure weekends will be pre-recorded and piped in from 7&4. Guessing mornings will be also

So that will leave one meteorologist at 25/66, 3 at abc12, and 3 at wnem. Each station is down two mets. ABC12 hasnt filled a spot in years and wnem hired that one kid still in school. They got lucky. All the stations seem to suck since no hires are being made.

Has this happened more than once? (I remember not long ago it did happen).

It’s about station managers being so cheap that they are losing meteorologists faster than they can replace them.

And don’t continue to tell me that this is normal staff movement to bigger markets. That’s a BS answer.

Smaller markets like Lansing and Traverse City have veteran metrologies who have been forecasting at the stations for DECADES. It’s not rocket science. You just have to be willing to pay to keep veteran talent like Andy Provenzano and Darin Rockcole at WILX, David Young and Jim Geyer at WLNS, Joe Charlevoix at WPBN, Tom O’Hare at 9&10 News. Even ABC 12 has JR Kirtek and Kevin Goff.

Research will tell you that weather is the number one driver for viewers. That 25-66 can’t keep meteorologists is just another indicator of failed management who don’t understand the importance of keeping good talent and paying them a decent wage.

Instead, Sinclair chooses to let good workers go and pay pennies for people barely out of college. It’s embarrassing and no wonder why 25-66 can’t grow any ratings.

The GM, (new) News Director and HR Director need to be shown the door if they can’t fix this.

Have to wonder if Erik will just say screw it and leave. Who knows how long Easlick will stick around too.

And it does feel as though this market is hurting a lot more than other markets this size or even smaller.

Easlick is the best in the market. Erik is good, but he’ll serve his time in Flint, get frustrated with the Mickey Mouse operation and move on to bigger markets like Jamie Kagol — who went to Phoenix and now is in Minneapolis.

In any case, not to get off topic, Ron seems like a great guy and will probably flourish significantly under some of the vets at 4.

How can you be so out of touch with reality Stink.

The Flint market can't compete money wise with Phoenix, Minneapolis or Detroit. Kirtek hasn't left 12 because first, who would want him, and second, his wife is the bread winner. He knows what side of the bread the butter goes on. Pretty much the same thing for Goff except he's single.
People leave this market for money. If you're still here after years of working in this market, either you have personal reasons for staying or you're not that good.

He’s apparently been divorced for a while as his wedding ring has been missing for an extended period of time

Soundchaser: nice try. You “conveniently” ignored that much smaller markets like Lansing and Traverse City have much less turnover than 25-66.

Here’s that information since you have a hard time staying on topic…

“Smaller markets like Lansing and Traverse City have veteran metrologists who have been forecasting at the stations for DECADES. It’s not rocket science. You just have to be willing to pay to keep veteran talent like Andy Provenzano and Darin Rockcole at WILX, David Young and Jim Geyer at WLNS, Joe Charlevoix at WPBN, Tom O’Hare at 9&10 News.”
