WNEM’s parent company says it will be raising the entry level wage for its employees to $18.00 per hour. That’s about $37,000 for many entry-level employees.

I was making less than $20,000 when I first got into broadcasting.. so it’s nice to see things at least are heading in the right direction. Let’s see if other station groups like Allen Media, Sinclair or Nexstar follow suit… if for no other reason than to remain competitive in a tight labor market.

Don’t count on cheap-a** Sinclair to follow suit. That would hurt profitability numbers to the point that GM Becky wouldn’t get her bonus.
