Is there an unwritten rule in markets that say their anchors ethnicity should match that of their viewers? I'm just questioning the timing of pulling off an African-American anchor when it was recently announced that Dawn Jones is returning to the station to take Karen Gatlin's chair.

According to FB Candace is getting married and moving out of state.

Apparently, she told someone that she would do his laundry. As soon as she did that, he drags her to the altar.

Has anybody noticed that, since the major blood letting last April, the talent and production levels have gone downhill? I'm talking about miscued video, uncued mics, and so on. And the talent...Angela Brown with her hand waving and head swiveling, Candice Burns with her deer in the headlights stare, and Justin Betti??? Where did they get this guy from...the high school A/V class???

Yes, I've noticed production values have fallen sharply, too, Willie -- but what did we expect? Longtime news director and audio guy leave... things are bound to get worse... and they have.

However, 12 still does a no-comparison job over 5. From Sam and Katie's smugness and know-it-all-ness, 5 continues to be what it's been for years... an over-rated, under-performing news team. One of the "tough questions" they asked Friday introduced a national canned story. Give me a break... at least they didn't also call it "Breaking News" this time.

I don't appreciate some of 12's personality quirks either, but they're still head-and-shoulders over anybody else in the market. And I don't think the overall news quality is anywhere near what it used to be, but neither is the Flint Journal's news quality, for instance. What do we expect when 26-year-olds are running the news world? They don't have the background, knowledge or experience to process the type of news we expect and deserve. But they make the struggling media company's bottom line look better than experienced (aka more expensive) editors do...

I agree. Channel 12 is still the "Cadillac" of TV stations in this market.

But the Cadilliac is much smaller than they used to be.

ALL Cadillacs are smaller than they used to be. Love to have a '70 deVille convertible.
