How has the industry changed in the last decade?

Post by Wiseguy » Sun Sep 10, 2017 9:46 pm

I just got back in the industry after over a decade completely outside of the bubble.

Some things never change, many are waaaay different.

Most notably ratings, Neilson acquired Arbitron, and now rates TV and radio.
Do TV and radio sweeps run concurrently?

RDS is also new to me (as I drive a 2000)

I see that the old DOS version of Selector is still the standard.

Oh, and touch screens have come a long way.

Oh grasshopper, those changes are barely significant. Try going back to slip cue-ing vinyl records on a turntable... commercial production done with a grease pencil and razor blade... to when automation involved 15" reel to reels and cart carousels. Now there's some ch-ch-ch-changes.

Right on, my Beerman brother. Those were the good old days!
RIP Dick McAuliffe. Always could count on Mac to be there when one went up the middle.
