Considering the amount of Facebook posts about this in which people thought WOOD owned Peacock and did this on purpose, I'm not surprised that people are confused about which channel they were watching.

A decade ago, I was aware of a couple cable systems serving portions of Elkhart County (that also served portions of St. Joseph County in MI) where WOOD - and not WNDU - was the only NBC affiliate carried in HD.

Nexstar owned WANE from Ft. Wayne is the in-market NBC affiliate for La Grange and Steuben counties, which abut the MI border. That station would've suffered the same issues as WOOD last Sunday.

This friend lives near Constantine, MI St. Jo County.... St. Jo County in Indiana is also on the border and within the South Bend media market...
