A great quote from Garry Frank (WXMI)...

Post by MWmetalhead » Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:06 am

Expect record breaking heat for several days this weekend.
Doesn't "the weekend" only consist of two days? What am I missing here?

Wow. Barry Sanders, really.

Yes, Mark, you are correct. Being only two days, saying the weekend is sufficient. There is no need for "several days."

Now, if it was "several days next week," that would be OK.
RIP Dick McAuliffe. Always could count on Mac to be there when one went up the middle.

No different than the people who say the time as "X:XX on the clock" or "A.M. in the morning". But on the upside corporate is saving tons of money on their "talent".

Wonder if his workday ends once the midday newscast signs off at noon and he was counting Friday afternoon as part of the weekend.

Frank is a train wreck. He is so awkward, acts like he is drunk, stumbles over words and is just an all around bad meteorologist.

He added to his lore on Wednesday by saying that temperatures had "platformed"'at that point in time, grabbing a little strong, when he intended to summon up "plateaued." A few minutes ago, he described our conditions as "solid." I always like my skies airy. Simply put, his ad-lib skills are limited.

FWIW, I have no problem with what he said.

In a strictly technical sense, yeah, the weekend is Sunday and Saturday. But people generally refer to Friday afternoon/evening (depending on what work/school ends) as part of the weekend. Further, it seems he was probably trying to refer to the day(s) leading up to, including, and the day(s) immediately after the weekend.

It's not like he's talking about scheduling events or talking when a store will/won't be open. A little abiguity here is fine. Just my humble opinion.

I'm surprise that Garry hasn't moved to Portland to be with his girlfriend Tracy.

Having thought along the same lines, although I was thinking a move to a station in or around Denver. It would put him halfway between both Portland and California (Tracy's home state) as well as midway to Kansas (his home state).

do you think frank could get a gig in denver? he is truly no good and denver is a top 20 market.

edited to add: he and tracy started at wxmi around the same time, so it would appear that frank renewed his contract probably within the last 6 months or so. it would surprise me if they could last long distance long enough for him to make a move for her.
