The Season Has Begun...

Post by Trophyhead » Wed Nov 01, 2017 9:54 am

Christmas Music on Star 105.7.

Tony Brooks kinda offered a clue that this would be the case to his Facebook friends yesterday.

Discuss, if you care or dare.

At this point I think we're at the 'If a tree falls in the forest' situation with WSRW. 🤷

We can thank the tense political environment for the outbreak of early Christmas flips this year!

105.7's big sister in Detroit made the switch today as well.
C'mon iHeartRadio - do the RIGHT thing for once! Please cancel "Rover's Morning Glory" from WBFX in Grand Rapids.

I took both of those stations off my presets several years ago, in November (year?) when they made the switch to Chrapmiss music. Never went back. Not even sure they still existed. Thanks for the reminder not to spin the dial their way.
RIP Dick McAuliffe. Always could count on Mac to be there when one went up the middle.

I rarely listen to either anyways, I'll change my presets too.

I like it and have listened a few times already. I just hope they expand the playlist a bit more this year. Lots of repeated songs

iHeart's corporate Christmas playlist is painful - the same 100-200 "safe" songs over and over. River (the originator of the all-Christmas format in West Michigan) has a somewhat bigger gold library. Nevertheless, even one airplay of "The Christmas Shoes" or "Grandma Got Run Over" is enough to make one want to shoot the radio the way Elvis shot that TV set.

I said this the past 1 or 2 years that 100.5 has a better playlist than 105.7

WVFM appears to have switched now as well. I don't recall them ever doing it before. They must be feeling the pinch from K102.5.

"Safe" songs?? What about a Christmas song would "not be safe" ??

And honestly, I don't care to hear ANY Christmas music until at the least, two weeks before Christmas, because the list is so short.

I opened this thread assuming (SORRY) that it was in reference to more radio careers being ended because a corporate jackass decided to cut costs at all costs despite the costs.

Nice to hear that isn't the case.

Carry on with your Singing Dogs, carry on.
