Tommy Dylan

Post by CrazyCool » Mon Jul 10, 2017 7:54 pm

Tommy hasn't been on the air the last week and noticed he wasn't on today. Checked their website and he is no longer listed.
Heard through the grapevine he decided to part ways while on vacation
Hopefully he joins up with Brook and they find a station the two are able to team up again.

Anybody have any more information?

I hope so. I worked with them for a few years, and they are great people.

Why did they leave WCSG in the first place?

WJQK is more likely since the only local program is the Ceci and Adam show.

Good people. Horrible company. Good Choice Tommy. I bet we see these two back somewhere before long... JQ? WTRV? or maybe even in another market?

I'll say JQ. Mr. Dylan once worked there and had a good run.

Dark horse candidates: WVFM and WFGR.

So, who's handling mornings at 105.7 now?

I guess Tommy left to take a ministry job at his church. It's probably a temporary thing due to a no-compete clause? maybe?
Time will tell where they end up, we can all make a guess and point to a station. But we will have to wait and find out.
Right now Tony Brooks is doing mornings

Not a bad choice. I hope mornings stay local on 105.7.

Don't bet on it, across the hall, Iheartless syndicated that awful rover show on 101.3, what's to stop them from doing it 105.7

NOW, WCSG or connie and Curtis is guaranteed to be #1 in mornings.

With being a Right-to-Work State will a non-compete even hold up in court these days?

For non-compete's, state laws matter. For instance if you work for iheart, you'll have to take into account Texas law since that is where they are based. In Michigan, non-compete's are pretty much toilet paper, but Texas has stricter laws.

If the company you are going to really wants you bad enough, they'll get their legal team to fight it for you and you won't have to sit out that 6 month, 1 year, B.S. "trade secret" stipulation. Otherwise you're on your own with some expensive attorney fees. If you are good, be ready for a fight.

I thought Tommy & Brook went to Star from CSG. Not sure why. I was told they were doing pretty good there. I don't think they ever really got better numbers at Star, except maybe when Star flipped to Christmas. From what I've heard, Star's morning show has been faltering behind CSG and Connie & Curtis for some time, which may be why Brook got the first hook.

The duo did indeed come over from WCSG. However, before CSG, he worked at WJQ.

You are right that LHT and especially CSG regularly defeated 105.7 in mornings. In females, CSG is often #1 in the market. However, 105.7 usually didn't trail 95.7 by much. Those two stations were generally pretty close in demo.

Tommy and Brooke usually scored lower numbers at 105.7 than 91.3. The thinking was their audience would come to 105.7 and 91.3 would be damaged. Neither occurred. 91.3's audience is loyal to the station, not any single on air host.

I believe Tommy also worked at WODJ in the early 90's. Tommy Dylan aka Marshall Dylan.

I definitely recall hearing a DJ who went by Tommy Dylan on WODJ's airwaves. That was when the station still sounded good. I wasn't sure if it was the same guy.
