Agreed 100 percent (no pun intended). Only caveat I would add is that the 10 seconds or so before (and afte) totality is a unique experience in and of itself as you can still see pretty good until then when the drop in apparent lighting speeds up drastically. I guess someone who was just north of the 100% line had a unique experience compared to even someone just a bit further away. But yeah - the experience of being able to remove your eye protection and look at it directly is on a whole different level of amazing.

As to comments about Ohio (I'm looking at you Matt), I will say this. At least people down there don't all drive like assholes like they do on Interstate in Michigan - the worst, most aggressive drivers being around Saginaw and Flint. I noticed a marked difference in aggression just taking the 75/75-23 split - it was noticeable immediately. I drove down Sunday morning and didn't experience any unusual traffic. My drive back today was a different story thanks to the construction zones in the southern part of Michigan being back up and running.

Here, in the Tampa Bay area, the only effect was that the daylight became a little less bright for a while. If I hadn't known there was an eclipse underway, I probably wouldn't even have noticed.

It was cool to see although the media over hypes the solar eclipse though I seen 3 the first was 30 years ago at school they didn't want to do the glasses because some in the media said it was dangerous. The science teacher used a cardboard and tin foil was cool to see that was totality for all of Michigan 30 years ago. It cool for 4 to 5 minutes seeing it being dusk in the afternoon.

When I posted that reply I just noticed that it was under "active topics" and didn't check to see that it was not under one of the non-technical discussions.

One theory about the eclipse we had recently, and the one seven years ago is that when combine to make an X through the United States. The people who look at it that way would try to have you believe that rapture, UFO invasion, WW3, and similar scenarios are coming.

my daughter went to Ohio (Columbus) as part of the Michigan marching band in November 2022.
It was so worth it.

In addition Toledo zoo >> Detroit zoo (though I claim lucas county as quasi-michigan to bein with. Wood County is DMZ, then the confedate 'south starts after that on I-75
