Remember one well. I worked at it. The Biig Ox. WXOX Bay City.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

WEXL was this little obscure station located in Royal Oak, playing country before it went mainstream

According to Wikipedia WEXL switched from Country to Religious in 1974. I Remember as a kid driving by their office on Eleven Mile between Coolidge And Greenfield in Berkeley, (maybe they moved to Royal Oak later.)

1590 WSMA Marine City was Country from 1967 to 1993. It was daytime only for many years.
Another longtime Country Music station is 920 CKNX from Wingham, Ontario which is still in the format to this day.

Sometime about 1972, 93.9 broke its Big 8 simulcast to go country, still using the CKLW-FM call. Lasted about ten years, but never had a fan base north of the river.

I bet a classic country station 80's thru 2000 would not do to bad on Fm today . Like WCSX . But no . Programers still can't except the fact that it's boomers that still listen to radio from habit . Just look at the overall ratings .

Don't forget "Your 10-10 friend", WITL-AM in Lansing. Went dark years ago.

1520 Ypsilanti was originally WYNZ, and was originally Country Gospel as I recall. It was owned by Harold Munn, Sr. WYSI 1480, immediately adjacent both in frequency and transmitter sites, was Country as I recall.
