Rare catch on 720 AM at night
Rare catch on 720 AM at night
Driving on I-80/90 from Chicago to Toledo last night, I was attempting to listen to the Blackhawks game on WGN. Near the Indiana-Ohio state line where groundwave/skywave cancellation can occur on Chicago AM stations, I could faintly make out a station under WGN playing old-timey Christmas carols, Burl Ives and Bing Crosby. According to radio-locator every other station on 720 in North America at night is either miniscule power or obviously heavily nulled away from the Midwest to protect WGN. Is it possible I heard CHTN from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island running 7500 watts? Unless one of the Mexican stations on 720 was playing English language Christmas songs for some reason.
Fuck Canada.
Re: Rare catch on 720 AM at night
It was around 8:30-9 PM Eastern time. And they were playing the full songs, not 30-45 second clips as bumper music for talk shows.
Fuck Canada.

Yep. Part of the magic of radio you'll never have digitally. Of course, it was even more fun before 500 stations ran Hannity or Snoory, but I digress.
Fuck Canada.
