Billy Joel is NOT classic rock, so he won't be on here
WCSX was playing some of his songs as far back as 1991. "Big Shot", "Movin out", "Only the good die young", and "My Life" were regulars when they really were a true "classic rock" station. Still a bit soft for wheels. They are definitely not full "classic rock"- more of a multi-generational hard rock. 1990s WCSX was actual classic rock-some Elton, Joel, Dylan, Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash thrown in the mix with Zep and Floyd. Come to think of it, I remember hearing CSNYs "Carry On" on the original WLLZ. Been awhile since ive heard that one at all..

Billy Joel is Classic Rock, I don’t know where this stuff came from that he isn’t Classic Rock, Joel’s music along with Elton were played on Rock Stations back in the 70’s along with the Zeppelin and Stones tunes and so were artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and others that’s what was on the Album Rock Stations in that era, So Billy Joel was and still is considered Classic Rock. All this fancy label stuff is all nonsense, So now if it’s soft songs from Artists like Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Elton, Journey, REO and the like, All played on then Rock Stations and Classic Rock Stations today, Can also be labeled Soft Rock today it boils down to what you want to call it. You could even play a soft tune from the Stones or even Led Zeppelin and it would actually fit a Soft Format If done correctly.

Been listening on and off all day as I ran errands, they have been talking St Patricks Day but haven't heard one Irish rock song. Not even U2. Is it too hard to interrupt the normal playlist just to insert a few Irish rock tunes?

Now that you mentioned it, I haven’t heard one U2 tune on that station. I might have missed it though, Only listen about an hour a day, Off and on, My son listens all the time.

If they're not playing U2, I'm not really gonna dock them a point for it ;)

Billy Joel is NOT Classic Rock??? LOL! I can vividly remember playing all these songs by Billy on Fort Wayne's AOR station, WXKE Rock 104 when I was there in the mid 80's:

Worse Comes to Worst
Ain't No Crime
Captain Jack
Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)
The Great Suburban Showdown
My Life (LP version)
All You Want to do is Dance
Big Shot
Prelude/Angry Young Man
All for Leyna
You May Be Right
It's Still Rock and Roll to Me
Don't Ask Me Why
Sometimes a Fantasy
Goodnight Saigon
Pressure
Allentown
Keeping the Faith
You're Only Human (Second Wind)
Modern Woman
A Matter of Trust

There are many, many more I can't recall right now. I worked weekend graveyard shift, and we played a ton of deep tracks, plus Doc West gave me permission to play anything within reason that came in on the request lines, pretty much anything in the library! WXKE had the widest rock playlist I ever heard. But working there, I learned about so many rock songs and artists I'd never heard of, it was a great learning experience.

I confirm all my information through a high, white whore's souse!

This station & Columbus station - at least during this weekend - have still played exactly the same songs at exactly the same time.

"Big Rig." Voicetracker used on numerious iFart rock & classic rock stations. For years, he was based at 98Rock in Tampa. Not sure if that's still the case.
