Predictions for 2019

Post by Deleted User 14803 » Sun Nov 18, 2018 9:28 am

The only things I see happening in 2019 is the possibility that Iheart will sell 106.7 maybe to a Christian Broadcaster,The next thing The Breeze will Be Top 5,The Bounce will be more Top 40 and last but not least Nash will change to something else but not a variety hits.

I predict 106.7 flips formats, but that's basically a "captain obvious" prediction.... to what, is the real mystery.... but since it's aired country, adult contemporary and rock in the past... i'll go out on a limb and say... rap music, just to be different :P

I predict that GNASH will flip to sports with the Lions and Michigan State as their flagship properties . . . hopefully . . . maybe . . . probably not.

I don't think anyone even wants to attempt Sports again after the 105.1 disaster......but they should at least give it a shot.

Only if 93.1 becomes WJR FM 📻 but I doubt that will happen.

Sports done correctly is expensive. Nash is not. It'll stay for now. Likewise simulcasting WJR would be a waste of an excellent signal and I wouldn't expect that at all.

Look at how many AM Stations in Detroit are doing sports and none are even registering a 0.1 in any ratings why and how are they existing even if they received a 0.5 in a book Iheart should sell 1130 and the same goes for Entercom with 1270 I’m sure some Ethnic or Religious Companies would be interested in those stations also we can’t forget about The Mighty 1090 WCAR They’re also some type of sports format.

80 percent of my AM dial is static.
I don't even have a clue as to what is on anything, so I agree on the idea of the selling

Would be cool if La Zeta had WLQV's facility (its signal is strong in Southwest Detroit), WLQV took the WDFN facility (superior daytime coverage), and 1310 could be paired with 1340 to complement each other's coverage.

As far as 1270 goes the night signal is terrible in Macomb County so I don’t know what you could do with that station format wise when they had their towers in Southfield the Detroit coverage area was just fine why they ever wanted to move it to Monroe County is beyond me.

-It's gonna be 20 degrees until May 12

-106.7 is going to tweak the format or will outright change formats

-There will be at least one more ownership change

-105.1 will add more currents/re-currents and will rebrand.

-I feel like something is going to change at 96.3, but I'm not sure what

-Something will change with the LMA at 107.5

-Nothing changes as far as AM radio goes in the market

-Lions will be eliminated from playoff contention on November 5 (of 2019)

-We could very well see a Variety Hits format enter the market

-I'm gonna be tired every morning when I wake up for work

ok.

1. 106.7 Flips back to Variety Hits, Possibly goes even goes Oldies.

2. Urban one Exits The market, sells WDMK to Beasley. The LMA is terminated at 107.5. 105.1 shifts to mainstream urban.

3. 107.5 is sold to EMF or Salem

4. 1130 or 1270 are to sold to a minority broadcaster

5. 93.1 maybe reverts back to Variety hits or even goes Oldies.

1027Brian I’m with you on the sale to EMF or Salem but it could be 106.7 that could get sold not so much 107.5 this whole Ifart bankruptcy thing is not over yet and Ifart May have to sell some underperforming properties there could be another 2 players for an FM big signal as I mentioned on another thread Family Life Radio and Kevin Adell. Let’s face it Adell has millions so that has some real possibilities. Also EMF is not finished in Detroit yet they’re looking for a full power FM for Air 1.They would like to put KLove Classics on their remaining translators.

1. Metro Detroit DMA will continue its slide and drop rank to #16.
2. Entercom/Detroit will be the undisputed top dog in ratings and billing, followed by iHM, Beasley, Cumulus and RadioOne.
3.iHM will be required to divest even more stations to comply with bankruptcy proceedings. 1130 will be sold.
4.Birach gets 1160/1460 on the air, full power, by summer.
5.One station will become CHR to take on 95-5.

I was zero for 8 last year. Probably be zero for 5 with these guesses. Happy Thanksgiving
